Two weekends ago i did 70 60 50 40 all those distances i spent more time stuffing around with foot setings and left and right on the sight. How and what can i do with this problem. by the way i got 905 out of 1200.

The very FIRST thing you have to make sure is that your arrows are spined properly and your bow's in tune. If not, you'd be continually wondering whether it's you or the equipment that's screwing things up. If you're sure that your equipment's working properly, then it's definitely your fault that the arrows are not landing in the gold so STOP moving the sights around. You should be expecting to see a decent grouping regardless of whether they're in the gold or not. You then adjust your sight and / or plunger (if you're shooting recurve) accordingly to get them centered in the gold.

And when you say foot settings, do you mean your stance and your foot position? That should be fixed no matter what distance you're shooting at.

ps. This will worry you a bit but Vittorio Frangili whose son Michele Frangili has held the indoor 18 and 25 metre world records since 2001 claimed that out of 3 dozen X10s, only 16 would group nicely with each other so do the math. 8) 16 out of 36 shafts. You can trust Michele's accuracy because he's quite capable of shooting 598 out of 600.

If you keep needing to adjust you foot alignment I'd suggest that you need to work out a system to get your position consistent and then stick to it. When you were doing those distances, were you moving from one target to another, or staying on the same target with the boss coming closer? If it was the former then you need to work on your routine to find your position, perhaps using an arrow to line up with the boss, and then use that to place you foot markers, if it was the latter then get some foot markers and use them, to ensure you're always in the same place.

When you were moving the sight left and right, do you mean it was going futher in one direction at each distance consistently, or that your group was moving left and right throughout the shoot, even at the same distance? If the former I'd guess it might be equipment related, either the bow not being tuned, or the sight not being mounted perfectly vertical in line with the bow, so it moves left and right as you move up and down. If it's the latter than it's probably something you are doing, since I can't imagine what equipment issue would cause that when at the same distance.

Personally, unless you have changes in wind which require windage adjustment I don't think there should be any need to move the windage setting ever, regardless of the distance. In fact I don't think I've moved mine in years, but then personally I prefer to know that if I shoot when there is little wind, and I do a good shot it'll go in the gold, if there's a lot of wind and I have to take the shot, I'll aim off, since if I misjudge it I can always blame the wind for it not going in the gold! :-)
