Which factors should you take into account when deciding which hole to use on your sight extension on a compound bow.

The ability to make 90m is most important, if it is too far out, you wont get as much adjustment, so it often needs to be brought into the bow.

IMHO there are three major considerations.

1: The ability to make your longest distance. If you can't make it you can move the sight in a little further.

2: You can optimise the way your peep lines up with your scope by moving the extension in and out (or changing the size of your peep).

3: By using the torque tuning method described by Jim Park in his book Mastering Compound Bows (http://urbanarchery.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=315) you can largely negate the effects of bowhand torque (it works extremely well).

So, I certainly don't arbitrarily choose a spot on the extension and go for it.

Firstly, I don't have to worry about my longest distance (90m) which I can make easily. So, secondly I perform torque tuning to place the sight bar in the optimal position for torque cancellation, and then I choose (or file out) a peep to suit my scope diameter.

If you can't make your longest distance at the setting defined by torque tuning, you could either use the optimal extension position for shorter distances, and move it just for the longer distance, or compromise on torque and place the sight further in for everything. Your choice.

;)

Good Luck.
