Its sounds like these events are going to be huge. Just heard that there are 94 compound males competing and 140 recurve males....dont know the numbers for the ladies. I think event will be just as big as the world target champs.

New tricks,
This is self funded and to attend all four shoots I worked out was going to cost approx $20,000AUS (airfares / accom /food).
Remember only the Recurvers get the doosh!

And the city of Porec (pronounced Por-ech according to my Croatian friend) looks absolutely marvelous.

Ranking is over a 70m (72 arrow) FITA ranking round.
Current standings after ?36? arrows: :-?
21st Jane 301
41st Lexie 291
63rd Amie 273
13th Clint 333
EDIT...Now:
15th Jane 461
48th Lexie 429
71st Amie 394
24th Clint 498
Edit still later .... (10pm SA time)
19th Jane 506
49th Lexie 480
71st Amie 437
21st Clint 555
frommy
10-05-2006, 10:11 PM
Still later, after 66 arrows:
Clint 18
DC 17
Will look at the curves later.
Just to clear any confusion, and without going to the rules, it would appear qualifying scores are split between the first 36 arrows, and the second 36.

Contditions are not too bad.....got a little windy after the first 3 ends. I was actually leading by 2 with 174, then the wind took hold. Finished with a 669 and ranked 17th....all is good, the ladies recurve are 15th and made it into the team match play.
They had to delay the start due to the amount of rain we had yesterday...so start time was pushed back 2 hours to allow the field to dry out a bit.
Matches are tomorrow and team the following day...all the medals will be shot of the final day.

Clint has been knocked off in the 1/8 round. He shot a 119 against Larry Wilde to put him out in the 1/16, but in the next round only a 112 against Genet who shot 115. The finals will be will be:
Genet (FR) v Reo Wilde (USA)
Custers (NED) v Prieels (BEL)

Conditions were great this morning...the wind picked up a little in the 3rd round and caught on a couple of shots...but thats the way it goes.
Happy with the way I shot 117/119(against Dee Wilde) and 112...tough competition and alot of great shots got knocked out in the first 2 rounds....will make things interesting for the points for the next 3 world cups to get into the final 4.

Great shooting guys.
Would it be fair to state that it appears that with this competition every one else is moving towards a 70 meter knock out comp and leaving the Fita for world championships.
If this is the case should we move in this direction and focus on selecting a team for such events in the future from a 70 meter Olymipic round?.

I noticed that the 112 from Chris was only exceeded by three other archers, but plenty did shoot 112 as well. Great shooting Chris, and all others.

The One: team events have now 24 arrows: 4 series of 6 arrows (2 per archer) instead of 27... that's why the results seem so "low"...
I would like to thank everybody there for the assistance, the kindliness and sympathy...
I was there to officially present the fiberbow to the world and it was an astonishing success...
Timppa shot some nice pictures of it: there is an "anonimous" white one, a "standard" black one and a "black-red-customized" one...
anyway, 533 grams of riser... low weight but heavy impact!
No top shooter has not been impressed by it, and one actually did his personal best at 70 meters on the training field right under my eyes and with a very rough tuning...

In case anyone hasn't seen, there is video footage of the finals matches for individuals and teams you can get to through the FITA website:

Some quite good stuff, though the audio is a bit dodgy in the wind. 116 for the women's recurve final was pretty impressive!
