I know many clubs have league competitions (indoor is seemingly a commonly used one for those who have facilities) and we will be starting one up this week.
We've never had one, so it will be interesting to see if it holds up or not.
We are running two divisions, a novices and open.
Novices shoot 30 arrows (10x3 or 5x6 depending on if they have assigned sets) at 30m on the 122cm face.
Opens shoot 30 arrows on 80cm face at 30m.
Weekly score submission, and their top three scores will be added to make a Geelong for the Novices, and a Drake for the Opens.
It's also a $5 entry, so that they will have some money for a prize at the end of the league.

DVA runs a handicapped league that may be of interest. Developed by Colin Carter, it works by taking your last 5 scores, dropping the highest and lowest, averaging those 3, taking that score off a possible and then having you shoot against that. So effectivly each archer is shooting against their current form.
We have 4 awards per league
Overall Winner: Handicap winner
Highest Score: The highest single round shot
Highest Average: Highest average score
Most Improved: The one who's final average improved the most from their initial average.
I can send you the spreadsheet we worked it from if you like (it' now all web controlled)

Out of interest is this an event for Sydney uni club only, or can any one enter?

Marcus: Sounds interesting. Also sounds a little complex too hahaha, I think a simple system will work fine as too much will will just confuse the kids shooting LOL.
Brett: It is designed primarily for our Novices, since we don't really have any number of Open shooters. But we do have 4 potential Open shooters. Besides, it's our club shoot, so if you entered, that would defeat that purpose, and you'd beat us all LOL.

Don,
I was thinking the same about the post from Brett. I thought he may be looking to raise funds for new limbs, but now see he has sold a compound in classifieds.
:D

Marcus, for that system, wouldn't the overall handicap winner most likely get the most improved award as well?

Of course I don't, but I don't need him coming to our club to shoot, beat me (which I know he does quite easily) and then also demoralises our less competitive members.
It's hard enough to get our people shooting fun club events without outsiders intimidating them..

Week 3
Don - 823 (3 scores)
Kate - 525 (3 scores)
Kirsten - 519 (2 scores)
Nigel - 109 (1 score)
Poor weather (9 deg and rain with wind..... :-? ) pretty much stopped any scores from Friday from happening.
