Ive gone back to D-loop for a while and as many of you know shooting a bt of a dloop can be a bit coarse.
What BT's have you found to be the smoothest on a Dloop?

The new Stan BT are the best I've shot off a D-loop. There hasp mechanism feels the smoothest over another brands.

tru dat homie! 0X yeah i found the zeniths to be very coarse straight of the loop. i tried it with a small loop off the dlopp and it was much better. but i still shoot straight off the loop. I'd prefer a cuz
Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by smooth. I am trying to use a BT, a Stan safeshot 4 finger. I am not aware of anything with it as I shoot. I certainly can't feel it rotating and going off.
So can you explain what it is. I am serious, I am not trying to make an issue. I just don't understand.
I have used a string loop to imatate the bow string and under little pressure to make it go off I still don't feel any roughness. I concentrate on aiming when shooting it so don't feel any movement as it goes off before or after.
Thanks for any info. I need all I can get as I don't have access to coaches to help me out.

hard to explain its all about the feel, You dont get alot of travel when shooting a bt off the dloop its just sort of a quick snap this can promote (bt punshing).
I like a bit of travel to get my form into gear then have the click so i just concentrate on the X then and the shot goes off.
If I try a BT of a rope how much do I need to change. Can I leave my dloop on and try a rope? It would change the point of impact on the target as I'd be having the rope under the knock, but that'd be alright for a try wouldn't it.
I just used a dloop as that was how I was shown and it looked logical.
Does it make the BT go of easier/quicker/slower. Does the rope have to be any certain length, obviously not too long, but is it longer than a dloop?

BT off the rope is just a bit more forgiving when settling into the shot. Just for a try make the rope as long as you would have the dloop when hooked on.
now your bt when shooting on a rope from dloop will be far too sensitive soadjust it back so the head is about in the midle (this is speaking from an Attension point of veiw, i havnt played with the stan safeshot before).
OK thanks. I'll give it a try.

Having been frustrated by the problem of BT releases not working nicely straight off a D-loop for some time, I'm always on the lookout for one with a well designed hinge.
I love the Carter Atension, and the Zenith X-Cel releases...
...but
The problem is that they both have a hinge design which is unevenly loaded when shooting straight off the hook instead of with a rope, and off the hook with a D-loop they're both as coarse as hell.
As a result I've always shot the Atension and Zenith releases with a very short rope through the D-loop so the hinge works as the manufacturer intended.
I've just got a Tru Ball BT Gold Ultra 4 in to try though, and it's got a really nicely designed hinge (nice handle too). The rope attachment is right next to the hook, so the load on the hinge is very similar when shooting either off a D-loop with the hook, or using the rope.
The Tru Ball BT hinge works really well straight off a D-loop, and doesn't get coarse at all.
Get one :D

I'll have to look into the true ball. I like to shoot BT when practicing it just gets me into good form.
I tried your rope through the Dloop, took me 20minutes to shoot 6 arrows :o very finicky

it takes a couple of shots but eventually it shapes and becomes easier. i took it off after a while as it was as you say a bit 'finicky'
but straight off the loop ithink i prefer a cuz, just wish there was a bt to match.

Can you take the head off of a Bighorn, and put it on the handle of an Atension??
If so that would probably rock as far as Dloops are concerned. The atension handle is awesome, and the Bighorn wont have the inherent problems of a hinge... and i have access to both, so would be an interesting experiment if it is possible...

Anything 2 finger or any 3 finger shot with 2 fingers is the goods. I find BT gives me better(steadier) aim as it shortens my draw about 1/2" due to the design V my choc addiction. Shame I suck at getting it to go off in my 5-7 second window of opportunity.

So is the bighorn better than the truball or much the same, I see what you mean with the truball the rope is inline with the hasp, this would be very consistant dloop or rope.
Im not to sure on how the bighorn works ive never seen one close up of the action or had a play with it

The smoothness would sure come down to the operator and how they use a release aid.
saying that my vote would be the X-Cel.
Well I tried my BT of the string today. WOW what a difference. Much easier to operate. I can get it to go off in a reasonable time and get that surprise release.
Going from a dloop to off the string is a major difference.
I think I understand the smoothness thing now.
I'd vote the stan safeshot as smooth. But haven't tried or experienced any others. So don't count my vote. :)
