Whatever fits your nocks. There's nothing else to know, Patchy. Might get you worrying unnecessarily if there's an obvious difference in diameter between yours and a better archer's but it ain't going to help your scores any to get to his diameter.

no, but if his is fits the nock too tight, it can impact the arrow and its flight quite significantly.
I really dont know what mine is. :-?

I know what he's getting at because I'm a victim of overly tight nocks too but he'd have to ask string brand, type, diameter and number of strands as well as the serving brand, type and diameter to be really exact.
And I don't know the diameter of mine too since I don't have access to a caliper but it's definitely too tight. Experimenting with number of strands now that I've decided on the serving type.

Depends on the string (type, thickness, number of strands) and the nock type. The ideal is to get your nock to snap on positively but rotate easily.
Most custom strings (Winners Choice etc) and even standard factory bow strings come with braided serving more suited to hunting nocks than say, X10 nocks, which reflects the hunting market dominance. If you want to use Easton X10 nocks with them, you pretty much have to re-serve the centre with a thinner serving (Angel etc). Some archers do that as a matter of form.
The new Beiter X10 nocks are slightly looser so they are a better fit for the standard WC serving. All this probably means you have to keep different diameter serving to satisfy all needs.

Interesting thread.
I use BCY products, love them, but I am sure other brands are just as good. You need to use the right thickness, which depends on the thickness of your string to start with.

Also, have a look at the 'question and answers' section, very interesting.
Additionally, the following could be of interest to some

18 strand BCY with 0.018 diameter a tad tight with easton pin nocks so i may try it with 16 strand next time but i like my strings as it is now. :D
