View Full Version : Cartel Triples Questions

1) Thinking about trying them and would like to know what is the closest spine Triple they have to a Navigator 540? Looking to shoot these out of
an Apex 7 and Apex Prestige at 50# with 25.25 inch True Draw (27" AMO). Arrow length would be 25"-26".
2) Are the new SS break off points any good?
3) What nocks are people liking the best with these shafts?
There does not seem to be a Beiter nock suitable for the
Triple 800's if that is the size I should be shooting.
4) Do the Triples have weight codes on the arrows so that you can
order subsequent matching arrows?
Thanks for the help.

65 views and no answers to the four questions. Does anyone shoot Triples down there?

i dont shoot them, and have no experience with them.
But from what i've heard, the triple is softer than the same rated spine Easton, so a 540 is probably more like a 500, but from what i gather, people recomend you go stiffer, so long as clearance is not an issue, so you may want 400s.
I'm sure Marcus will answer this question eventually, he seems to have a lot of experience with the triples.

Hello Jbird
for your specification 800 seems good
plus they are thinner, this is really a + .
points: I had not reported any problems with theses points ( previous points did bend )
nocks:
up to 700 size: beiter nocks or cartel nocks
800 and over only cartel nocks, they are fine but only in size 1
weight code, I d'nt know
Theses are good shafts, especially for outdoor, they are perfect in windy condition, very similar to X10
800 is lighter and a little smaller.
and a lot less expensive.
in my opinion cartel are aside the x10 for as far as outdoor shooting is concerned.
Better than ace or nav for compound.

Where did 800's come into it? I thought the Cartel spine system was pretty similar to the Easton one - so the closest to a 540 might be a 500 (as dbjac said), not an 800 :-?
I'll refrain from starting that war - but it's tempting :-D

The following chart may be safer than speculation

800's would be far far far far far far far far far far far far far too weak. 500's or 400's would work better.
The Altservices chart I would take with a grain of salt
For example it would suggest for me a 500 at 28" 60lb.
Myself and quite a few other shooters found that 500's did not group well over 52#, while 400's and 300's worked much better.

I don't know why the knuckleheads can't just list their spine values to correspond to Easton spine values since Easton is the defacto standard in the industry. Would make life a lot simpler and boost their sales. With spine values from 400-800 being recommended for my setup.( A7 and Prestige at 51# , 27" AMO draw, and 25-26" shaft length) I'm not real confident in ordering two dozen shafts and hoping for the best.

Buy Navigators then, otherwise you will always be second guessing your purchase

you mean like carbon express and gold tip do now?
with the altservices chart, te spine sizing they give for the experts is roughly around the easton size eg for a triple 400 it is a xpert 520.
using the chart is easy, just go to the next higher spine they recomend (this is what I have done and it worked for me)

Archers Advantage Arrow Selection has the Easton spines for the Triple arrows.

Could be. It recommened 600 for me and I shoot a 500. Of course, with the max. point weight.

400's with full point weight. You'd probably be OK with 500's. No weaker.
2) Are the new SS break off points any good?
Yes.
3) What nocks are people liking the best with these shafts?
There does not seem to be a Beiter nock suitable for the
Triple 800's if that is the size I should be shooting.
Don't even think about 800's!
Beiter Hunter in-out nocks (will fit 400's or 500's) seem popular among the compounders.
Vector pins and Easton pin nocks work well too.
4) Do the Triples have weight codes on the arrows so that you can
order subsequent matching arrows?
There is a batch number of some sort. I don't know what it means. Don't worry about it, the weight matching between batches has been excellent in my experience.

There are heaps of threads on this subject, but if you can stick to Easton, the quality is exceptional.
