Hi,
Me and my girlfried are interested to start archery.
Because we are just beginners, we really would not like
to buy two bows at the moment. So I wonder, is it possible
to start with one bow, which would be suitable to both of us?
What kind of a bow we should buy? Traditional (olympic) or this
what game hunters often use (don't know English world for it!).
I'm about 6 feet tall and my girlfriend about 5 feet 7 inches.
And obviosly i'm quite much stronger.
Thanks,
Eddie

In my opinion, it would not be ideal - archery can be a very personalised sport, with a lot of things suiting one person and not an other. Whether you decide one way or the other, I would strongly urge you to visit the nearest archery club, and have a talk to the archers there. If you do a beginners course, you may often be loaned the equipment, which may be a much better scenario.

Or you could forget about recurve and go with a genisis bow

join a club, most of them can provide equipment to use for a small fee

Eddie, expand a bit. Where do you live. What do you want from archery? Hunting? Target shooting?

I think it would be cheaper to just rent equipment at a local indoor shop.

Yes, we are both right handed and going to do only target shooting.
We have tested a few bows owned by my friend (obviously not suitable for beginners).
Local archery club provides some bows, but you can use them only, when there is some member available, who have access to these bows.
So it's not ideal situation.
Also renting (if even possible) would not be cheap.
Because this is not a serious hoppy (not yet at least!), we don't want to buy
too expensive equpments at start. That's why I'm thinking of buying only one bow now.

Like everyone has said it may not be very good to use one bow between you both. My wife and I are just starting/trying to get into this sport also and had a simular problem. Don't know if we like it yet and also couldn't spend enough money to buy serious equipment. I was told at a local club the biggest problem of my wife and I sharing a bow was we both have a different draw length.
Anyways, we just decided we'd buy a really cheap/basic bow for us each to get started. If we like it alot and enjoy it we will then in 6 months-year from now go and buy something much more suitable to our needs when we can afford/justify and know what we want to make a better judgement. I don't know where you live and if there is any cheap basic starters bows about but if not you might be able to buy something ok 2nd hand.

If I were going to chose one bow to shoot indoors for two people with different draw lengths and I was on a budget, I would get the Genisis Pro.
Nice little bow and I have seen numerous 300's shot indoors with one.
The price is low as well.
