hello,
I am new to this forum, so i don't know if this has been asked.

i shoot a switchback at 70lbs, 400gr gold tip xt 75/95 at 265 fps. i use it for hunting.

my question---------

would it hurt me or my bow to shoot a 300 gr arrow?

mattews says 5gr per pound.

i was thinking about the new carbon revolution from hca. 5.5 gr per inch. with a strong spine strengh.

thanks for your time

If you are hunting, I would expect that you would not be shooting over about 30 yards. Speed really means nothing inside this distance. The lighter arrow will also lose Kinetic energy or 'penetration'. Heavy and hard is what you want.

I'd stay with the manufacturers recommendation, and stay within 5gn / lb.

This would mean you shouldn't shoot an arrow any lighter than 350gn at your draw weight of 70lb, and there's good reason for this recommendation. If the arrow is too light you run the very real risk of damaging both the bow, and yourself.
