I have sent my entry. I have entered the target and field, not the clout. Probably will not shoot the matchplay.
Who else is going?
Of the compounders going, who is trying for the WAC2003 team?

Ditto for me Jim, field and target, no clout, I'm afraid of blow up castles and flying cows :D

Me and Erika are hoping to go although money is tight so we may only go up for the Target and Matchplay. Erika will be going for the team.

Hi Jim
I will most likely try out for the WAC team, I am going to New York anyway and staying to shoot the US Nationals. Marie will also be going. We had a great time at the New Zealand Nationals and hope ours will be just as good.
See you there.

I'll be going just for the target as uni comes back that same week.
I'm afraid of blow up castles and flying cows :D
If only I could spare a day for clout :microwave:
But seriously I would shoot the clout

I am going up , just need to join aa and fill in a form .
I will probaly just shoot Field , as I haven't shot 90 for a lot of years don't want to embarrass myself . If I can get time to try 90 before I enter I may shoot target but most likely only shooting the field event

Well I'm not trying for the worlds & neither is Adam.
I can safely say I will not be trying for any compound world teams ever again.........maybe recurve..don't know.
I'll just be a homeboy

How come? What's wrong with compound? Lack of funding?

umm yep.
Don't see the point in shelling out big bucks to represent my Country anymore. Paid the Banks enough interest over the years to finance that.
For guys/gals that haven't done it before....go for it.
Me I'm content to stay in OZ and let the Big Boys come to me! 8)
At this stage for me it looks like I will not be able to go -- too far away, too costly and it is a Uni week for me so....I guess I will just have to be the whinger again....
I wouldn'tbe trying out for team. Quite apart from the fact that I wouldn't have a snowflakes chance in hell of beating enough people, I would be WAY to expensive to go to NY!!!! I would love to go there though...reckon that would be a great place for a world champs. Mind you, if it has to be the US, why not Hawaii????
:bday:
I wasn't going to go but have put in a late entry for the longbow. So I will probably be shooting on different days to most of you.
Does anyone know if you have to be there on the Saturday to register or can it wait until a day or two later? I've got a pretty long haul with the caravan to get there from Victoria on time.
2dogs - We will probably stay a night in Goondiwindi, how far from there to Mount Petrie?
Any recommendations for caravan parks on the Gold Coast (and later the Sunshine Coast)?
By the way, the only reason we are coming up is so the kids can go to the theme parks, nothing to do with archery, honestly!

Guy,
Goondiwindi to Mr Petrie would be 3.5 to 4 hours....about 370km

My and Erika's accomodation is now booked and ready to go.
Shame your not coming up Mike, would've been a blast with many if the forum there for it. :(

26th of April till the 3rd of May
Perhaps we should organise an Archery Forum Dinner.

You would have to join AA, also entries are closed so the target for example would cost you
$80 plus $40 late fee.
Perhaps wait till next year would be better. I think the Juniors will be in Sydney

Since there seem to be a few people on the forum who can't make it this year (including me - was hoping to go to my first but $$$$$ + Uni'), does anyone know or have any predictions about where next year's Nat's will be held?
I'm guessing it's about time for Victoria or Tassie to get a go by the Nat's locations list in the 'History' section.
What do people think?
Cairns would be nice. I've never been to Cairns. Beach every day, seedy nightclubs until 6:00 in the morning... Let's make it Cairns.
And those that want to shoot will probably be freezing in Hobart.

No thanks. I shot a Nats at Townsville. And while it was the best fun Nationals I have had, it was too bloody hot!
Hobart sounds great! My kinda town!!

Was Townsville a Junior Nationals Marcus? Being held mid-summer they are almost always too hot where ever they are held! :( :(
A trip to Tassie sounds good I agree....... :)

Yeah it was. Really pretty target field though. Field range was on a golf course. Well run event. We spent every spare minute in the pool. However even in April I would expect it to be too hot.

Cairns doesnt really have a archery range, we got 1 target at a soccer club, but the club i am in is a 60km drive from cairns, and we only have about 7 targets. its not so much hot, but humid

Well, Bryce and I have finalised our travel. We will be shooting just the target and the field, not the matchplay (could not justify the additional two days costs for the matchplay).

Noel,
He has already decided what his answer will be: "my coach told me what we were going to do, just obeying instructions".
