View Full Version : Who Palys Guitar Here?

Jesse Pearman aka Woody

Hey, im 17 and i was just wondering who plays guitar here, what guitars they have and if there any good. I have an Epiphone Explorer, Stevie Ray Vaughan signiature Stratocaster and a Maton Semi-electric Resonator, oh and an old expensive spanish guitar made in Spain. I can pretty much play any Metallica solo (One is my favourite) because they're the most awsome band ever, i play Stevie Ray Vaughan (i can play Texas Flood) and the usual attempts at Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Yngwie Malmsteen.

I used to play a lot but have given it up . I used to have a Les Paul Standard , Fender Telecaster and a Fender Amp . My main stuff was from Eric Clapton , Buddy Holly , AC/DC ., Rose Tattoo , Van Morrison etc etc etc :D

I just got my guitar last week, still learning how to play. It's a cheep LTD ax lookalike(pic of it as my avatar). I learnt to play the first riff in smoke on the water at school camp and have been hooked ever since. I can play a few songs, santana, nivana, white stripes, red hot chillis, audioslave. But not as fast as the artist playes them so they never sound any good.

What Does This Have To Do With Archery???

It's a relevant question considering it's an archery forum and we have generally frowned upon off-topic conversation in the past.

However,

The Admin of Archery Forum are happy to allow discussions like this in the juniors section. I think that juniors should be allowed to chat about other common interests (within reason) on Archery-Forum. It means they will keep visiting the forum more frequently and hopefully pick up some info that will help their archery along the way.

when have u ever had to march. in grade 8 brass ensemble (as it was called then) had to practise marching with instruments early in the morning for an hour doing these weird formations 10mins ha try an hour before u complain.

19-06-2006, 07:24 PM
i was in grade 9, and yes i remember the rehearsals, the ones OUTSIDE school!! marching up and down school with those damn cymbols!. you had it easy. no strain on your wrists!!

Brocky
19-06-2006, 07:53 PM
Ninevalleys from what I've been told your wrists should not have got sore at all, then again holding up cymbols is a different exercise to what your wrists are use to and they would have a lot more weight then the normal instrument they stoke. From what I'm told ;)

ninevalleys
19-06-2006, 08:00 PM
Touche'!

to properly hold the crash cymbols in marching fashion you have to hold them between 30 - 45 degrees adn lock them in place. then to strike them together for optimum sound clarity you flex one of wrists while striking the other cymbol against it.

cheers NV

ps. by 30 and 45 i mean not on the pivot of the joint (L-R) but agaisnt it (up and down)

ESP make great guitars, the play so well and look mean (everything you want in a guitar)

"but guitar is a jazz instrument!!! "
The Guitar is a special instrument that fits in all catagorgies of music (except techno and rap) it was originally a classical/flamenco instrument, its been very successful.

Bach pieces don't require skill they require understanding whilst have some level of competence and well with never heard of kenny G you must have your head under a rock when you were doing saxophone. and quiting after playing the sax for 5 years well I seriously doubt you'd realise suddenly after 5 years of doing saxophone that its queer.

Its all about timing, i use an exercise where i use a e and b string (the two thinest on electric or the two top nylons on an acoustic) and smiply have my index finger on the 12 fret of the e string (top string), leave it on at all times then use my 4th finger and pick the 15th fret, pulloff and hammer on the 15th fret below it (or the 14th, they both sound good) without picking. Its got a very Metallica/Megadeth feel to it and its great for beginer learners to start developing.
I've listed a few good sited for learning soloing, tapping, pulloffs, hammer on's etc...

this next one is great, search your favourite guitarist and learn from them

i was otherwise engaged (parents fault wanted to go to our beach house) rather sick of that actually i wanted to go but couldnt parents dont know the word compromise.
I suspect you'll find that they know the word just fine, but one of the advantages of them being parents and supplying money is that they don't need to use it very often ;-)

Try exercising the muscle between your ears a bit more. You'll figure it out eventually.... or maybe not, but that's not my problem :-P

Yngwie Malmsteen is playing in Melbourne in Novermber!!! Its not that important to some of you but for a guy like me who wants to see a guy play Paganini pieces on a guitar, its pretty awsome. Paganini rocks!

Jesse Pearman aka Woody you will be wasting your money, I was going to see Billy Joel but then discovered that it is not the original artist performing when in Australia.
Its ninevalleys. I mean he is just so talented.
I heard he's changed his name for a couple of weeks to Nicolo followed by Billy.

Thats hard to believe seeing that it is an 18+ show, im not 18+ but i must look a lot older and mature than ninevalleys especially since i wont be going with a saxaphone around my neck.

meh 18+,

the sax just adds to the age makes me look abotu 8? so just gotta find another 10 more years to fill.. maybe i should get a wig? or even a pirate beard??

I've got three basses, a Fretless and a Fretted Corvette, and a four string Streamer.

:o Awesome! I just think Corvettes are one of the best looking basses out there.

I play bass mostly, but also guitar. I have some old p bass copy, and an Ibanez semi-acoustic (AGB140), into a Mesa 400+ :D and Crate 2x10+1x18 cab. Also an Epi LP studio (blueburst) and SG into a lil practice amp. I need a real guitar amp soon... Play stuff like Muse, QOTSA/Kyuss, Tool, Isis, Cog, Mogwai... All kinds of stuff.

All Warwicks still? I've played a 5 string '$$' (doublebuck) corvette at a shop, MAN did it sound nice! Maybe one day if I have the '$$' I'll get one! :p

Nope, not all Warwicks.

Just bought a Cort Artisan A4, and a Cort GB-94.

Really nice basses :thumb:

I have a mate here who has an A5... Neck-thrus rule! There's an Ibanez at my local shop that looks just like an Artisan, but with a curved body, so a slightly concave back, and you can't tell where the neck starts and body ends! So smooth...

I feel like I'm on the guitar geek forums...

Ibanez's are the best made guitars in the world, i rate them higher than fenders or gibsons.

Ibanezes are sexy looking. I used to have a Baldwin Burns semi acoustic bass. Short scale but it played and recorded pretty well.
