I was thinking about this bow for my first. What do you guys think? And is $500-$550 a good price for a brand new one (just bow)

There has been a few reports of the riser snapping in half , I would rather get the Phantom . JMO

hey,
personally i wouldnt reckomend the new martins, they arn't quite up to scratch. if you had to buy a martin try and find one of the older models, like the origional phantom!!! with the fusion cam. thier Z, fusion, fury and fury x cams are still easily their best cams, the new ones seem to be quite unsubstantial.

Not that many Martins are new model most are 3 years old or more just new rubber etc
And 90% of Martins are loud

Have shot a few rounds side by side with a Martin Saber shooter. Group included Bowtech Tribute, Merlin XT and Hoyt Ultratec. The Saber was not overly noisy and the owner has been using it for target and 3D for 2 years now.
Good first bow.
