Back of vane ..where?

G'day,
How far from the end of the arrow, do you put the back of the vane. I have about 1/2" or so, but want to trim a little off the arrow,without having to refletch.

With compounds, you can trim off quite a bit. Theoretically speaking, the further back, the better, but we recurvers have to leave quite a bit of space for our fat fingers. :mad:
