for indoor or outdoor?
for recurve or compound?
for fingers or release?

arrows are a very situational things.

for indoor compound i'd go 2315 x7's big fat. easy to pull out of strammit.
for outdoor i'd shoot triples, unless i had dosh coming out my bum.... then i'd buy x10's

She's shooting recurve ;)

me I only have some Carbon Impact
I'm going to get some X7 for indoor Yay!

outdoor I've never shot X10 but with all the good thing i've heard about these, they must be pretty awesome!

Outdoor: i've never had anything shoot as well as my NAVs, but if i find a good X10 that works well, i'd swap over in a heart beat.

Indoor: X7- hands down.

I'd say, cartel Triples; cheaper for their quality - good quality, me and my dad shoot them, both with Bi-delta fletches, and they fly better than most, if not all, i've seen

sure cartel are worth the try but X10 are superior, but for the prices, if you aren't shooting at high level competition, it doesn't worth the prices for x10
in fact me I would get Triple or Nav before X10
Cause they are too pricy
and I won't feel that much the difference...

With my recurve experience so far, Cartel Triples are good up to about scores of 1200 for a Mens Fita, 1250 for Ladies FITA and 300 for a Fita Field - Red Peg.

Once you start breaking these scores with the Triples it is time to move to X10 for Target and for Field - ACEs or X10s. As the inconsistency in the Triple spines really starts to effect your scores above these values.

For Indoor X7 work perfectly and are cheap, don't even bother with anything carbon for indoor no matter what the manufactures say, they just don't have the spines matched as well as the X7 Aluminium arrows.

I haven't used Navigators but I have been told that they are as good as Triples if not better (I would assume better because Easton do better spine matching during their manufacturing process).

Navigators, Just got a set from Marcus and i've set them up they look absolutely fantastic and i don't doubt any less in their performance and the price at the moment is similar to triples so if i was a recurve (and i am ;) ) i'd rather go for Navigators. :)

hey Kiearna,

a majority of people shoot either Triples, ACE's, or Navigators. of course X-10's are everyones ultimate choice, but are increadibly expensive for a first set of arrows.for the poundage your pulling Cartle Strikers would be the best cheapest option. or Cartel Xperts, and lastly triples

ACEs would be good for you especially out doors for reaching those long distances.

hey,

im pretty sure this topic has been done in the ' archery Tech forum' bit. im pretty sure that X10's were deduced as the best (obvious) and triples and ACE's were weighted pretty much equal, (having different strengths and weaknesses but still equal). for price and quality Triples are the pic.. but for a first set of arrows, 28#, and still not shotting full recommended distance you can easily get away with strikers, even aluminium arrows. that also means that when you upgrade you have a spare set of arrows for clout and feild in case you do not want to accidently 'lose' or 'smash' your good ones.

ps. talk to paul

except that for the price, triples are now not what they used to be.

yeah, but from what i've heard, the triples arent as cheap as they used to be, so they have lost one of the more important advantages.

Jay.G

its the same price as Navigators now, except for the components which are cheaper.

I suspect Marcus' opinion about Triples has changed a little since he started spine tesing them.
For recurve, I'd go for the Easton arrows. If I had the opportunity to buy my first set of arrows again, they would be Navigators. That said, my Triples served me well for two years.
X10's for FITA target, and perhaps AC/E's for field, would be the ultimate.

X10's for target, marked field and the mighty clout. I shoot them indoors too - I like the theory of shooting aluminiums indoors, but I've never got any going properly. They take too much retuning, whereas you can swap X10's and ACE's without having to do much if you want.
ACE's for unmarked field/3D.

I wouldn't bother with X10's until you're shooting good scores though (or you get a packet of dosh to spend on equipment :-D). ACE's are quite capable of shooting damn good scores.

well any of the Triples, ACE's or X10's would do fine, but seeing as its going to be her first set of arrows, and possibly equipment. its still not wise to buy real expensive when you can get away with cheaper, and jsut as effective starting off arrows. any of the above arrows woudl not be put to great use only being shot at around 30m. id say in Keno's choice her best bet at a first set of arrows woudl be strikers or Xperts. at least if you break one or lose one its not a big loss. she could use the saved money on better limbs, or riser.

One thing that's worth mentioning is that since you're shooting a light poundage recurve, the usual rule of thumb about a heavy shaft being better than a light one doesn't apply quite the same. In that situation, a light arrow is probably better because you'll want the extra distance it'll give.

Well it realy depends on what bow, poundage and draw lengh your shooting but use 700
