Hi All,

I run an airgun club and I'm thinking about adding an archery section and need to know which type of bow is good to start with.

I have a trade account with a company that can supply me with the following;

Light compound bow, 36" length, draw weight 25 1bs
Alloy recurve bow, 61" long, draw weight 30 1bs
Petron fibreglass recurve kit, 60" long, draw weight 25/30 1bs

None of the above are very expensive and i only want something to try to see if it takes off.

Any idea's?

Cheers,

Steve.

Steve,

The compound wouldn't really be an option as the draw length tends to be either set or have limited adjustment.

Recurve is the way to go although I'd have though that 30lbs draw weight would be too high for beginners with no form.

However, unless you have the advice from an experienced archer, you may cause more harm than good. As a shooting club, I'd imagine you'd be familiar with the safety side but as archery os more muscle based than rifle shooting, poor form could cause injuries. Contact a local club to you to possibly arrange some sort of colaboration before you end up with an insurance claim.

Are you from Powys, Wales?

If so, have a look here:
