View Full Version : Let off
I've just given the new bow a serious tug. Damn, things have changed! The pull is as smooth as a bucket of slugs but that let-off is like falling off a cliff. I held full draw(in the kitchen) for about three minutes before I had to let down due to the sheer mass of the bow. It's obviously not about strength any more?
My question is: At full draw the bow is wobbling all over the place. With my old stabilizer hanging off the front, it's worse! This new bow doesn't feel half as balanced as my old Hoyt. Would this be because of the reflexed riser or is it just a matter of experimenting with different stab's?

Might have something to do with your Let Off at full draw.
See normally when you fart it causes vibrations, and I'm sure that farting at fulldraw is very detrimental to you holding still.................plus it stinks

You will have noticed that the grip on the Max 2000 is offset. It is is very important that you don't put too much hand into the grip.
Maintain nothing more than your thumb pad on the grip and keep your knuckles at 45 degrees and your entire hand RELAXED!!.
It may feel a little uncomfortable to start with, but before you know it, you will hold all bows this way...and it is the correct way...
Cheers...enjoy
2Dogs,
All farting was done at half draw when I realised that some bastard had cranked the limbs up before he sent it to me. Once I slackened the limbs off to a more reasonable poundage I was fine.
I too believe the massive let off may be to blame with the stability. It feels like I'm holding about 5lb! I tried the wife's short stabilizer and it helped a lot. The general balance of the bow has moved a long way forward. I'll get used to it.
Randall,
It's funny but most people used to tell me I didn't use enough palm to hold my bow. I used to shoot open handed with my fingers straight and the palm facing the ground! I started this habit early because of my 'bow-grabbing' and it was the only way I could stop myself. I'm also suffering a reach problem because at 31.33" it's the longest 30" drawlength I've ever seen! Maybe they measure drawlengths different these days? Shouldn't be difficult to fix. If I find the problem continues I'll post a photo of my bow grip and let everyone have a good laugh.
Noel,
Sic 'im boy! Gaarn, gettim!
