I have trouble getting my trigger release off using back tension, so my coach lends me one of his back tensions and i practise with that on a string every dat 20 times, and aklso get down to the club once or twice a week at 15 meters using it. This does help my rlease when it comes to the weekends for comps. Does any one else find or and do this?

On a string really doesn't help much IMO. The motion is really easy to get right on a string, but much more difficult with a bow.

Using a back tension (BT) is a really good start and practising with it can only be a good thing. However, even if you are using a BT you can still have difficulty releasing (and especially releasing properly). Importantly, you need to be asking your coach HOW you should be using the BT to ensure the shot is as clean as possible. There is a lot more involved than just what kind of release you use!!! Keep using the BT for a while...and make sure you are using the right muscles to pull through the shot - practise is the only way that you will overcome any problem...especially in archery.

I have never used a trigger (I don't like them and prefer to use a BT regardless), but my husband invariably goes back to the BT to practise releasing to ensure that he is releasing correctly.

May be worth talking to your coach about it. You could be a touch too long in your draw length and that is causing inconsistnacy in your back tension. I fid that even 1/16" can cause me to not release right.

I do agree with you there because it's MUCH easier to release both trigger and bt on a string, but my two coaches say it works and i no it does. because i went throught a triggering stage the ONLY thing that could help me was practising on a string 20 times a day and yes it did.

i found my hand held alot easier to release out of back tension without the ball on the trigger, i can get my thumb over the trigger better and when i start using back tension it goes off easy because my thumb is right over the trigger. maybe give that a try if you can take if off you never know it might work :p

Field is proberly my favourite thats because your not standing there in one spot, you dont get so sunburnt you get more fresh air and it's just nice and some times challenging:P
