I have recently been given some new McKinney 2 arrows to try and so far I have found them to be far more accurate than: triples and ACE's. just wondering if anyone else has shot these arrows before and what they think? also I am a compound shooter.

I haven't had a chance to check what weight they are, but i know that the shafts are at least 20gr lighter than triples because im shooting 120gr points in the McKinneys and only 100 in the triples and the McKinneys still fly higher.

Im sure that you will like them I was shocked how well they group!! the only thing with them is that they do pick up a lot of crap in targets, stramit is ok but white tails leave heaps of crap on them!

Yep...getting up there with A/C/Es.

Gone are the days of cheap Beman S shafts...

They are expensive but they do work great! they are very durable as well. also i had some trouble gluing fletches to triples and aces but with the Mckinney's, fletches are nearly impossible to get off!

hmm. i did know that hte mc kinney's I was quite a good shaft. or at least, that's what i heard. I suppose MCK 2 has better engineering and stuff, but yeah. agreed. the price is a lil' steep. I don't suppose they group better than X-10s? if otherwise i'd probably just spend another hundred bucks and go for X-10s.

Yes the arrows were free, but this is my honest opinion on there performance

No doubt of that, you've been posting some nice scores with them.

Nothing wrong with getting free gear.

Hi,

Enlightened One is sponsored by Archery Supplies, and as part of this sponsorship we ask our shooters to trial new products.
We ask them to be truthful about all products as if they do lie, in the long run the truth will come out as more of the product is being widely used by other archers.

Owen has been shooting some good scores with his, now if someone would take his ACEs off him and lock them away, watch out!

yeah he did shoot come really good scores with them (with mini blazers) particully indoor. I think the spine was too stiff or something though

According to Rick McKinney they are the best shaft he has ever made. Try them you might be pleasantly surprised.

Hello

First tests with MCK II shafts:

size 600
29.5
100 grs points

265 grs arrow

diameter similar to an ACE
ACE components fits very well

shoot out a bowman bow with wedel cams 52#, 31"

shoot them at 70 for firt testing
they group well

same speed as my cartel 800
faster than my cartel 500 and 600

Seems to be very durable, even in fresh stramit
I have tried with a G nock directly in the shaft ( I did have concerns )
No problems the shaft handle well
I tried to open a piece of shaft ( rest of arrow after cutting ) with a srew driver, they are mutch more resistants than old beman for example.

While G or 12 beiter nocks are acceptables with the shaft, I prefer ACE pins plus pin nocks.

I will perform test with differents points vanes lenght and see, how the group stay.
I will tell you more soon

I have been shooting the McKinneys 2's for a while now and have had some problems with their durability......

the frist few weeks i had the shafts they shot great but have since started to cause some problems grouping them. I got a brand new set a couple of days ago and shot a 1403 with them on the first day......proving they are a very good and accurate shaft but no where near as durable as i had hoped. perhaps a stiffer spine would improve durability though

i suppose with a recurve the durability would be better?

Knowing how well and often Brendan shoots (especially coming up to the worlds) I'd say that his arrows take a lot more of a beating than most people's.
