Bloody hell. This IS a major.

Just checked out the program and they have it slotted in two time slots, that is two half hour time slots.

This may mean that they might be screening footage from more than one of the previous events.

I've just got normal digital, not IQ. Mine works by setting the video to record AV1 and just leaving Foxtel on the channel I want recorded.

I just record to dvd sraight from Austar

I'm assuming the broadcast is by somebody else and they are just showing it, how cool would it be of they made it Active ! Might actually make people have a second look at it.
Maybe some follow up letters to the magazine saying how great it was and how we'll all worship foxtel may be a good move.

P.S Ed, you sure foxtel at your place is av1 ? I thought it was set on vid198 AV2 from memory ?

It is normal enough to have Foxtel/Austar or any other source connected through AV1, although it could be any input (AV2 etc). Just make sure that what you are watching is what is recorded. If a SCART connection is used you can be viewing Foxtel straight to the TV, with the VCR/DVD looking (and recording from) anywhere else. Make sure the VCR/DVD controls what you see on the TV and leave Foxtel set to the Fox Sports station.
Experiment!

I watched 30 mins of it today and was impressed. They have done a good job with the footage. It shows the cultural aspects of the town, locals, archer's shooting in the Bronze and Gold mathches and interviews. My thumbs are up.

looks great, it is both Croatia and Turkey, and at the end they say where the next round is, so hopefully this event will keep being televised.

That was some damn fine footage, and I note that it was produced by FITA. Nice camera angles, and obviously designed for consumption by archers as there was no B/S about archery which could be expected for a broadcast to the general population.

Nice cameo by gt as well.

Well done, and looking forward to the screening of the 3rd round.

I noticed in the first episode that the FITA reps seemed fairly enthusiastic about getting compound as well as recurve into the Olympics. More exposure can only be good for the sport.

I thought it was quite good but the commentator drove me up the wall

At least it's putting Archery out there.

Tj & I especially enjoyed the FITA 'Tink Tank' where they are always 'tinking' about ways to improve the events ;->

A very well put together show, yes, except for the announcer ("oh NO!, it's a NINE folks!!!") & except for the complete dearth of lady recurvers in the first 1/2 hr program!!!

looking forward to the next round

kirsten

ps some of the peeking by the male recurvers was *hilarious* to watch!

Yeah I got video. I could convert it into an AVI file but I can't host that much Mb's. There's 46 minutes of video (DVD quality). I could make a lower res version but your still looking at very big files. Unless you want a 3GP version

Sorry to be a wet blanket on this issue, and I am certainly no legal expert on this, but I think there might be a question on legality of mass produced copies of a broadcast being distributed?

And this is being talked about on an open forum.

I may be wrong, and hope I am, but I do think some caution should be displayed.

I hardly think a multimilliondollar company is going to sue over 10 of so copys of a tv show they played at 11:30pm, if anything they would think its showing that people want to see archery and maby play some more.

I did get a chance to see it the other week, sadly not very exiting but something that interested me was the rather large number of wrist strap release aids. When I did my beginners course it was made pretty clear to us that these things should not be considered if you want to shoot target archery.
Comments on the subject anyone ?

Cheers

thanks kg...I am relieved. Family matters diverted me from taping it and I was thinking I had missed something of worth.

On the wrist release comment, JamesW, good point. That wasn't the only form aberration evident on the the show. Certainly some different styles. Not every archer is a KSL or Axford devotee of biomechanical excellence..

From a quick glance on Foxtel, I see that there is archery scheduled for Wednesday October 25 on Fox 1 (3.30 and 4pm), Friday October 27 on Fox 1 (8.00 and 8.30am) and Sunday October 29 Fox 3 (4.00 and 4.30am).

I hope they're new episodes and not repeats again.
