Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting on the forum tho i do read over it now and again. I was away over seas when the Junior Nationals were on in Perth, and so in will be going to the NATS in QLD... I was wondering if any other juniors (i am 16) will be going ??? This will be my first national comp so i dont really know what to expect, but i am hoping i am not the only youngen there!!! :(

Hmmm... what else, oh yea. Does anyone know when the trials for the Junior Worlds 2004, France, are held????? Is it late this year or early next year?. Also, does anyone know when the comp is held in the year, and how many places are their usually in a team. Thanks for your help, i look forward to meeting some of you at the nationals. :P

Hi Thomas

Goiong by past experience you should expect 20 to 30 Juniors to be shooting in the Nationals.

W.A. has three Juniors in their Senior State Team, so that's three that I know of.

You will havea great time.

Hi Thomas

The 8th World Junior Champs are supposed to start on 1 July, 2004, but according to FITA, there is no host yet.

Sorry, westopher
Of the three juniors that you mentioned were in our state team, one isn'e a junior anymore (remember the birthday cake back during nats :bday: ), one will not be a junior by the time Brisbane comes around. That just leaves one, poor little sucker.

Does anyone know what age limit there is to be shooting junior world champs or whatever??? Is it 18???

FITA recocognises an archer as a Junior "when the competition takes place up to and in the year of his or her 18th birthday". (4.2.4 in the FITA Rules)

A Cadet archer is when "the competition takes place up to and in the year of his or her 16th birthday".

So if you turn 18 on January 1 you may shoot as a Junior for the rest of that calendar year. :)

But currently AA does not follow the same rules. For AA events it is your age on the first day of a competition that decides the lowest age division you are allowed to compete in for juniors, and similarly the highest veteran age division allowed.

"Open" events run by FITA or AA (such as the Nationals in Brisbane) are just that - open - there is no age limit.

When you live here you kinda get used to it. It wasnt really that bad compared to some days we get over here.

give it 6 months and i'll be up their with the best of them i just need to get my new bow and equipment and start my train program. to win would be nice but if i could be competitive and shoot 2x 1250 mens fita's would be nice.

Oh yeah Barry knows his stuff, but that isn't an automatic ticket to success, neither is a new bow, afterall it may not suit you. Some archers can be coached better than others.
Work hard and shoot often and see what falls into place. There is not alot of talent out there right now on the National scene so some 1250's may just do it.
Oh and start shooting seniors ASAP. Same round and will give you a serious push.

Yeah i am hoping to get there. I too have just recently got myself a coach and he has kindly created an extensive program for me. So i hope to see a few of you fellas there.

~ chris you're not even shooting 1250 short fita, let alone a 1250 mens fita.

~a 1250 fita means that you may have to shoot over 300 at 90m.

~ you better start practicing really hard because remember Ben's in u18's now and he can actually shoot 90, unlike some...

~ IM SURE YOU'LL BE PUSHING TO KEEP UP.

Nah Dean, I've shot 1290+ with 270 at 90m. Just need 330+ at 70m and 50m.

Good to see you guys here BTW!

Dean

~the only reason not shooting 90m at the moment is that my bow is maxed out and won't make the distance no matter what i do.

~nobody is unbeatable, not even Ben
