Can anyone help me with my maths test; my incredibly smart teacher copied the test of the internet. However, I can

Sorry, completely useless with trig stuff...

its an internal and you internals are easy as if you do the class work before it.
questions 4-8 are only merit exerlence so why bother most of the country setles for acheived.
shoudl of done stats way better

4, 7 and 8 are easy. I assume they let you have a table of common identities.

Wouldn't it be kind of like cheating to ask for help on it? Or have they introduced a 'phone a friend' option into NCEA?

I wouldnt call it cheating, we didnt finish the test during one class so we get half of next period tomorow to complete it. You could say im just doing some revision with a tutor. This is nothing compared to what our physics teacher tells us to do, but I guess thats why he has a 100% pass rate.
Recurve boy if its so easy would you mind showing us the steps to do it?

Now that WOULD be cheating.
Do you even know what the question is asking?

they want me to prove the lhs of the equasion equils the right, useing trig identitys, I spent 3 weeks studying them.

Ok, then 4 and 5 should be trivial. Only 1 identity is required for 4. (finding the right one is left as an exercise for the reader) and 5. is a standard "solve for nx between some limits" then find the general solution (sin is +ve in 1st and 2nd quadrants).

Given that the following are in the stats book that all WA students are allowed to take into their tests and exams I don't think this is cheating. However, you might find the following useful for Q4;
tan=sin/cos
and possibly;
cos^2+sin^2=1
obviously the theta is missing but I don't know how to post that on AF.

asking for the solution is akin to cheating. revision with a tutor my a**. and it's a TEST.

Oh please! Any teacher who shows students the questions and expects them not to get help with the answers before completing the test is either extremely naive or just plain stupid. Especially at year 12 level.

well, i'd still maintain the stand that unless the teacher plainly states you can find help for them.... it's not right to ASK people for help. it's a question of OUR morals, NOT the teacher's stupidity.
like if it's a test.. what's the teacher expecting? full marks from everyone? might as well take your university qualification tests and ask ppl on the street how to do it.
doesn't make sense. if it's a test, treat it like one!
appalling that morals is something people will step on if need be for paper qualifications.

Come on, q4 is pretty straightforward if you approach it right. 5 is a total piece of piss, and I can't see how 6 or 7 could be hard either.
8 looks like it could be tricky, but it would hardly be a test if they were all simple now would it ;-)

I would be quite woryed if a dude going through his last year of engenearing school couldnt do this test, its only year 13 calc.
Just for the record our teacher is going to look at our answers and give us a sort of resit while we are finishing the test off. so I dont think he will mind about a bit of extra tutoring.

It's been ages since I did trig identities like those, we get partial differential equations now :-(
Not to keen on this whole resit idea, back in my day we got one shot at the test and that was it!

thats why theres so many idots with no quolifications now, this way everyone gets a certificate and then we can all get jobs insted of makeing p for money.
