I am going to try and shoot my first Fita in around 8 years this sunday at DVA.

Could someone please talk some sense into me and talk me out of it .

No seriously though, how critical do you have to aim at 90 metres , I have enough trouble holding still at 80 yds on the IFAA round . Any suggestions??

Best advise I heard was

Just shoot it like it's indoor

You'll do fine Bruce, look forward to seeing you there

Excellent Bruce. Certainly at DVA I find I have to watch where each arrow hits so that I can allow for their subtle drifts - in the last FITA we shot there we had one end when about five of us just about simultaneously hit the 6 to the left, even though the wind seemed very slight.
On a good day I would expect to keep my sight well within the gold at 90M.
Marcus' suggestion is a good one.

Thanks for that .

I hope to get there early so as I can get at least a 90 m setting . I have to be at a meeting all day today for the branch so I won't get any shooting done unless its after dark with the driving lights .

Make sure you don't let these FITA blokes turn you from ABA Bruce. They are bound to use any method to claim you as one of theirs!

Bruce best thing to do at 90m is just before you draw back just say to yourself c'mon please, please go near the middle then squeeze the trigger and hope :)

That's what shooting in the wind was like at DVA today. The wind changed every arrow. In the end it was aim at the ten and see where they end up!! One end I had 10, 10, 9, 8, 5, 5 with the 5's on opposite sides of the target!!

Good luck tomorrow!!

A good idea shooting at 90m (or any distance) - especially in the wind is wait till someone else shoots and see where the arrow goes.

The only trouble is when everyone is waiting for someone else to shoot!! :) [/i]

Bruce

3 things

Tight anchor
Strong bow arm and watch the flags. You know how to shoot good shots, so the rest with take care of itself.

Shoot well

I survived . didn't embarrass myself and kept all my arrows on the but and in the target . Learnt alot

1 I need to drop my anchor if I decide to shoot more of this fita stuff, I had to pull my sight in to get 90 , combination of high anchor and heavy cartel arrows (360gn).
2 I need to shoot more at the large face and then swap to the small face it freaked me out , but I don't understand that as the face size changes all the time in field , I suppose it is the fact that you get used to looking at a big target for so long then wham you have a break and some mungrel has shrunk the target.
3 I really like shooting field , the trees break up the wind more, the trees give you shade , there are less arrows to add up
4 I really like shooting field

I will try it again but I will reduce the weight of my arrows by at least 10 gn and see how I go , I won't change my anchor as my bow is set for me to be comfortable on the field course .

Thanks to dva for organising a fun event , I enjoyed it and will probably shoot another fita soon ???

Oh by the way I will be shooting aba next weekend at whyndham rebel so don't worry they didn't convert me

Bruce, we were impressed. You did well, especially in the quite tricky drifts at DVA. Getting over 280 at 90M was very good - I thought the conditions were a little difficult and I had to aim off quite a bit at 90M.
