Today i was watching television when i seen in buffy the vampire slayer ( season 3) when buffy meet face they go on a walk to slain vempire and face(a new slayer for a few episode) got a camo oneida and some fat alluminium shaft, was quite funny cause she was trying to put the arrow on the other side of the window...
Anyone got some archery/bow appearance in any movie/tv show?
robin hood, punisher, blade trinity,

I recall in "Blade Trinity" The girl was shooting an AR which was cronographed at over 300fps. Didn't know AR's could reach those speeds:-D

Or could cut a swath through vampires with their laser strings, or become a take-down compound...

I think it was a martin hense the voilent explosions that were caused every time it was fired :-D

possibly, though one would think the violent explosions would happen MUCH closer to the archer, not about 50m away :D unless they wern't wearing a finger sling? but then again i wouldnt put it past a Martin to give a 'suprise' :D no matter where it's situated

lol! Martins can be quite surprising, and yes the shock wave produced by them could quite possibly trigger an explosion 50m or more away!

i was thinking more about the explosion of the bow...:D... itself.. though yes the shock waves are quite.. devastating

I bet we're about to upset some martin shooters but hey:cool: I think simply put martins should not be fired within a 100m radius of a living person due to the risks. though i comend martin shooters they are very very brave people indeed:grin:
i found a picture of an archer in my physics book..
and no i didnt draw them in
it might of been a PSE...(Pull Shot Explode)

My wife watches Kommisar Rex (Inspector Rex) on SBS 7:30 pm Thursday nights. Tonight they screened a 1999 episode, which I had seen many years ago, in which the murder was committed with a recurve shooting a broadhead.
Some very nice archery footage using people who knew what shooting a recurve was all about. Some very good camera angles on the draw and release. Very nice to see after some of the crap shown in the references to movies and things above.

I heard that a bowtech or something was going to be on CSI. I dont know if the episodes already been and gone. I heard that there was some sniper guy who was using a bow instead of a gun.

Yeah that charlies angels thing was pretty silly. In the "funnies" the girl dry fires it and its quite funny:-D as for the take down compounds I wish they were never even thought of they're just dumb:mad:

Mythbusters used a compound for the myth of splitting an arrow from nock to point by 'robin hooding', though they used some hidious antique for their tests which annoyed me:-D They got longbow shooters to try and do it (failed, shock horror!) I think they resorted to using a bamboo shaft and a hooter shooter which actually did work and split the shaft from nock to point:cool:

Thats A bit stupid, they spend $15000 on pingpong balls to refloat a ship and buy 20 000 tons of sand to see if you can actualy get quicksand (could list more if you wanted) but wouldnt get a decent bow or shooter. which would be what $5000 at the most.

Mythbusters is my favourite show so im not trying to give them a bad image or anything like that, but a fairly modern (2002+) bowtech, hoyt or mathews would have been a good thing to see on tv to try and sell archery as a sport a bit more:cool: I know that a mathews was used for some of their tests but it was not used well (not even a release aid was used:mad: ).
