Shot the new Max today (setting up mainly) and found I was really good at aiming at the six o'clock eight. No matter how I tried it was bloody hard to push the bow upwards into the gold. The dot kept bouncing back into the red. Would this be a classic case of 'Gold shyness'?

Sounds like it to me Vic.

Vic....try your tiller :o

It maybe that the bow is infact pulling you down somewhat. Add a bit to the top and back off the same amount on the bottom.

not always.
Sometimes if your weight distribution is poor or the timing on your cams is out the bow will pull you in a particular dirrection. Perhaps try with a stabilizer to see if you can get it on the gold. Also try and hold on the gold wiothout intention to shoot. If you can hold without a stabilizer then it's a weight issue. If you can hold without the intention to shoot but move off while trying to execute then it could be gold shyness.

James:

I believe you are right. I might have a go at dropping into the gold instead of lifting. At the moment there are probably many form issues to sort out after such a long layoff and I may have been a little optimistic of my ability to just step back in. In particular, I need to shoot arrows. Lots of them.

Randall:

I can't believe how good this bow shoots after just fiddling at home for a week and I'm loathe to change the settings. Currently I have about 1/16" less height on the bottom limb and the arrows fly so well! I'll try the stabilizer first because that's easy to do.

Marcus:

I'm still using my old 80cm stabilizer from my old bow minus some of the weights but it still feels very weight forward. You may be on to something here. I'll give it a try.

Thanks all

I've found that many of these reflex bows are designed more for 12" rods. I shoot and have gotten best results from a 32" Vibrachek with no weight on the front and from a 25" Black Max with the weight at the back. The bow kicks forward not down on teh shot but it's easier to hold.
