View Full Version : Vibration tuning ?
Senario : a well tuned bow makes a certian pitch of sound when shot, now could one set up a bow by replicating that pitch ? And how well does everyone think it would work ?

I think this tends to work with brace height more than anything else.

I don't see why it couldn't be done. But figuring out precisely how everything affects the pitch of the bow is going to be a pain in the ass.
Perhaps this is a bad example but I've tuned my flute in an analogous way. A flute approximates to a closed ended pipe, so I pulled out a tape measure and corrected the length. Then I measured the pitch on a electric tuner and tada it worked! It was actually a little high but my tutor said "flutes are usu. a little sharper ..."
I've also measured the pitch of my bow on the tuner.
25" Hoyt Elan, 38# medium limbs, 16 strand fastflight, 9" brace height gives me a slightly flat A :D
