The new Carbon Express target arrow is set to hit or shores in the near future:D The name for the arrow is the "Nano".
This is a thin shaft, with great tolerances and includes some new features for a Carbon Express arrow.
Some specs;
Sizes: 1100 (4.9gpi) up to 380 (9gpi)
Straightness: .0015
Nock: G5 Titanium Metanock
Points: Titanium coated, glue in adjustable target point
Material: New hi-tech, hi-strength Carbon Material.
These arrows should be available in December from the various Australian Carbon Express Dealers.

These sound pretty good. Been waiting to hear the specs.
9 GPI & the same size as an ACE.
That's going to put them up there close to the X10
2Dogs

Heard some more
9GPI and the same size as an X10, with 130 grain point.
A tougher kind of Carbon, that is making them extremely durable.
Sounds even more interesting.

As Shermo said, all Carbon.
But not the normal type of carbon.

Well I don't know if this means anything...or if it's correct
An ACE & X10 & most other all carbon arrows, use a form of the carbon that is 20 tonne, this arrow uses 40 tonne carbon.
I don't know if this is referring to the modulus or what.

Does anyone have photos of the Carbon Express Nano? Not on their website. Not even a mention. It's good that other companies are coming up with high end arrows. Like the Carbon Tech McKinney IIs. Perhaps in the next Olympics, we will be seeing some winners NOT using X10s.
ARGH!!! Can someone keep GT off my back?!! I promise to buy X10s!!!

They are currently in production with an arrival date at the warehouse within the next 2-3 weeks so as Shermo pointed out we should see them in Oz in December.
Carbon Express is hoping to have the website updated with info on the Nano within a month.

Well alot of reports i read about mccinnies (all carbon) is that they group really good to start.... then as the months go by they group worse and worse. even young brendan wallce made that observation. if they do and the price is reasonably we might just see a flood of people using nano's.

The Nano
http://www.soma-archery.com/15.htm
Found this.
These are made for Soma, by Carbon Express....just labelled different.
I'm guessing the CE version will have different graphics, & maybe a different nock.
Jay.G
23-11-2006, 05:40 AM
weight doesn't look that much of a difference from the Navigators... Sure these are the same ones CE is going to release? Doesn't seem to have any indication of its made by CE, for Soma besides the name, Nano.
2Dogs
23-11-2006, 06:49 AM
No I'm not sure. Will just have to wait and see.
The weight may be the same, but the size is closer to an X10.

It doesn't sound quite right. Although not as big a name in shafts as Easton, I should think that Carbon Express would be more likely to command a better price than to have an identically specified shaft produced by them but marketed under the Soma name. Unless of course, they're only going to target a very small part of the market.

Compare carefully with the Easton charts again for Navigators and X10s. A/C/Es will definitely be a bit lighter so they win in the weight department.

Was only talking about weight there, 2Doggy Dogg just in case Jay.G reckoned the Nanos will get him to 90 metres at his poundage.

Lancaster has them in stock now. The price is $279.00 US per dozen. Not as high as was rumored but not exactly in the same price range as Navigators either. ACE's are less and lighter. Will be interesting to see if these get any traction at this price point.

If you are using the arrows for taget long rang i.e 90m you wont the arrow to be as weighty as possible to cut down on wind drift.

Field archers who shoot mostly in woods (95% of the ranges in the NE USA) will see more benefit from flatter trajectory than the increased weight. Besides with the ACE you can get great FOC along with the increased speed at reduced poundage and/or draw lengths. If I was spending my time shooting FITA on open soccer fields I would get X-!0's or for a budget arrow, Triples.

for 42 pounds of draw weight and gearing up to shoot a single FITA soon (haven't done it yet because i don't want to give up my amateur status in singapore just yet) would you guys think it's better to get these shafts or the X-10s in the long run? assuming money is not an issue (meaning to say that i have enough cash to buy either of the two).

McKinney 2's are nothing like the Nano.
The McK2's are a fairly fat/Light arrow...about same size as Easton FMJ.
Nano's are Skinny and heavy, Approx same OD as the X10....tiny bit fatter.

maybe i'll hold back buying the best arrows. though i have the cash. after all, i'm not exacly shooting at a international level yet. the best arrow shafts in the world won't make much difference, i guess.
