Can someone tell me from experience or put the numbers into the software and let me know what a 50lb prestige at 26" and 250grns will do.
Thanks
Stu

Mate she needs a new Ignition! Cheap, light and probably gunna be quicker than the Prestige. I think im gunna buy Linda one for xmas if she's good! Did you go to Tammworth?

Just ordered Jodi a prestige this arvo, I've been told anywhere between 275 and 300, I'd be happy with 280ish. I think it is still the best short draw bow I could get her, but it's so hard to know when there is no way of test shooting them, bloody lefties.
Went to Tamworth, very nice ranges. Only shot the 3 arrow on Saturday morning, they got about 3" of rain during the last half hour and the rets of the afternoon. Shot a two arrow round on Sunday morning, dropped 12 points up until I missed target 15 altogether with one arrow. John Clark took out the freestyle, no big scores though.
Might see you at Nambucca, half organised, just need work to work in with me for a change.
Gary Nicholls bought Vera a prestige the other day

I was hoping he would go to Ramworth Dane, he's been telling me that he was getting Vera one for months and I wanted to get Jodi to try Vera's first but we just never crossed paths again. If I didnt order it this week it probably wouldnt turn up until March 07.
Did Vera say much about it Dane ?
actually vera hasnt even shot the bow yet , she's been sick latly , although gary and me and i couple of other moonterra's drawed it it felt VERY powerfull I think it would be a awsome little bow:thumb:

Mate she's the Cheapskate!!! I wanted to buy her a new Mustang age's ago but she wouldn't let me spend that much money. And I couldn't find a second hand Mustang or Ultra2 in Blackcherry 26 inch 30 to 40 pound. The Ignition is only $600 au NEW and she can get it in Blackcherry and it only weigh's 2.9 pound. It's perfect for her boney ass!!! She wants one and it's a good excuse for me to buy a NEW bow even if it's not for me.

I can't fault your logic or you excuse, yes she is the queen of cheapskates.
It looks like a blue and white mustang, or even a BM2, it would be a good little bow for her bony ass. What kind of speed ?, it's IBO is only 278 at ??????

Thanks Beetle, I was hoping a little quicker, I'll ask on the Mathews forum and see if there are any actuals.
Thanks again

Yeah at 26 inch 50 pound. It would have a better chance surely than a Prestige. Dont it work out roughly 10 feet per/sec loss in speed per inch lower than IBO and 10 feet per/sec loss in speed per 10 pounds lower that IBO. Would'nt that work out slower than the Ignition?
um yeah I understand that:rolleyes:

I'll ask Al Alcorn about it tomorrow, they havent really promoted it as anything special have they ?

Mathews specs for Ignition are quoted at 26"/50lbs, so if you believe 'em, then at that draw & weight, the Ignition is faster at 278fps.

Reality may well be at that draw/weight they will have be both around 265 to 272 fps. That's based on my experience with Actual V. Claimed IBO speeds from Mathews.
yeah! but with what arrow's

There's a section on Archery Talk or it might even be on the Mathewsinc Forum Website about working out your bow speed without a chrono. Im pretty sure it said that you lose 10 feet per/sec if the draw is 1 inch under IBO and you loss 10 feet per/sec if the draw weight is 10 pound under IBO. Example; Mathews LX, IBO 317 feet per/sec. ( 70 pound , 30 inch draw ). If your bow draw is 29 inch and your shooting 60 pound then it should be doing roughly 297 feet per/sec.( at 5 grains per pound arrow weight ) Then you have to take off speed for a peep and loop and what ever else is on your string. I think it's only a rough estimate and I think it's only for Solocam bow's.

5 grains per pound. It's not an arrow I'd wanna shoot. Too light.

Is that Actual V on the Mathews website Beetle? If not where could I get my hands on it? Thanks.

Indeed. It does get you a ball-park figure though. The only way to be sure is chrono it. My LX at 60lbs & 5 gpp was able to shoot 302fps. My Apex 7 is actually 1 fps better than it's IBO spec, but I had to tune carefully to do it.

No. They only quote their IBO specs. I have seen some published Prestige speeds. I'll check.
I remember. I recall talking to someone about a 26"/40lb Prestige shooting an unknown weight arrow at 272fps. I'm guessing a 200 grain arrow.

Youll have to check out the Ignition at Nambucca Stu. One of the shops should have one on display. That Mustang of Jodies should be pulling an alright speed. She shot it bloody well at the worlds. Why does she want to change? Or do you just want to buy her a bow?

Now that I think about it, Terry Seather and Merrlyn were posting speeds of her Prestige when she got it. I think it was pulling about 285 to 292 at 45 pound and 27 or 27.5 inch draw ( 5 gpp).

Those numbers sound about right. :thumb:

I don't think you would notice a great deal of difference in the speed between a 60lb.-70lb.at 5g. per. lb.

The Ignition will be here by Nambucca. The Prestige would be a heavier and better built bow (thus the $1400 price tag) The Ignition sounds like agreat option though. Are any of the three distributors selling out the Mustang to make way for the new stock? The Ignition is doing 270 fps at 26" 50# (5gpp)

Stu,
I haven't shot either of them thru a chrono yet. AA says she is shooting
225 fps at 39# and 23.5" draw with Navigator 880's at 23" raw shaft length and 80 grain points, 187 Flex Fletch vanes on wraps.
That's a cut and past for a reply on the Mathews forum. What would that arrow weigh, 210gr ?

I'd guesstimate around 225 grains. I think the 880 is approx 5.5 grains per inch. The 187's are about 3 grains each. Nock is an unknown, but say 10 grains?
