Hi fergus welcome to the forum :) Seeing as your from StAlbans I'd recommend you head over to Diamond Valley Archers to get some advice on hunting, joining a club opens alot of doors on equipment advice and setting a bow up and how to shoot it :) Also it's a great way to meet others that have a common interest. Send a message to a guy called Marcus about the club and I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out :) As for bows I'd stick with a major brand, either Hoyt or PSE, I shoot a PSE Excellerator for hunting and it does a great job. Any sort of hunting info please feel free to ask me and I'll help out as much as I can, we're all here to support each other

Which way from Sydney?

You could pay from $600 to $1500+ for a bow.

You could pick up a Hoyt Magnatec For around $600 to $700.

Oh yeah, there is a St Albans in Melbourne too.

Best low price hunting bow is the Hoyt MagnaTec, Buck Bow and Champion Stratus. The MagnaTec is great. I know some people who get passthroughs on boar with them, and for about $600 will do you very well.

no problem, that's what this site is about!

Second hand can vary, and depends on what's about. Best off joining a club and then keeping an eye on our classifieds section. Also can some local dealers and see what they have in stock.

Some of the dealers have 2002 bows at reduced prices.

What draw length are you, and what draw weight are you looking for.

Looking at the map, as far as ABA (Aust Bowhunters Ass) clubs go, the closest to you would be either Lithgow, Manly or Campletown, none of which are exactly on your doorstep. Despite this, it would be well worth your while visiting, if not joining one of them. The help you will get will be invaluable. Much more than any of us can hope to give you on a forum. That's not to say there isn

Thanks again Guys you all are a great help.
I will go to the nearest archery store and check out some bows.
There is one at Castle Hill and see what they have to say coz I would not know what draw leingth or weight would be good.
Thanks again
Fergus

P.S I will keep you all posted as to what I do.
