I like 4x for unmarked animal rounds.

Your mileage may vary, but it's my preferred magnification.

For target/indoor/FITA/IFAA field I'm enjoying 6x at the moment.

so 6x would be good for just about everthing then? cause i am useing 4x ATM and i am finding it hard for the longer shots. thanks for the tip.

I think the thing with 6x is that it can be difficult when shooting unmarked animal targets to identify the score zone, as the magnification is so much. For that game I prefer 4x, but for everything else I like 6.

The right scope magnification for you might not be the right magnification for me and vice versa. If you try to guess, or if you just try someone else's scope on for a few shots, what might look okay for a few minutes of shooting could be imposing a strain that you're not immediately aware of but in awhile will begin to blur the target image. You need to shoot with a lens for at least 1/2 hour to know for sure how it fits your eyesight.

If you've never used a scope, go here and scroll down to the Multi-Scope Deluxe: http://www.goldenkeyarchery.com/scopes.html

This setup comes with a very nice scope housing and four interchangeable lenses, 0x, 2x, 4x and 6x, so you can take your time experimenting with the various powers until you find the one that fits you best. Then you can either just shoot with that scope and lens, which is perfectly adequate, or you can sell the setup and buy a more sophisticated one.

The lenses come with a black center dot. If you wish you can order Gunstar decals and impart any type of reticle you like; posts, crosshairs, circles, etc.

Good stuff!
