 I haven't been shooting long and am wondering if I am doing something fundamentally wrong by shooting fingers(actually one finger) with a drop-away rest.
I have tried a release aid but I prefer the feel without.
Any comments?

Figner release causes the arrow to bend back and forth, which doesn't work with drop-aways.

Shooting with one finger is sort of new.

like Jean said, shooting with fingers causes the string to find its way out around the finger tips. This causes the arrow to initially be pushed into the riser side. Therefore you need a rest with a device to stop that inward movement. Finger rests have a firm plate or a plunger button to keep the arrow going in the right direction.

Look for topics on the "Archers Paradox" and you will learn more.

Finger shooting with a release-aid rest is really a bit dangerous, because it is possible that the arrow jumps right of the rest during the release.

Buy yourself a rest designed for finger shooters.

yeah mate i shoot fingers and i now use a bodoodle and find it excellent i did use a cavalier free flyte and plunger button but found that the support leg was breaking every three months or so with the weight of my arrows so if you intend to shoot carbons then a the free flyte or the cavalier super free flyte and the plunger button would be the way to go...... but if you want to used a heavy alloy say 300 grain plus bare shaft.. then i highly recomend the bodoodle........:thumb:

Thanks for the input. :thumb:
I thought as much. My results have been getting better due to form but seem to plateau with some inconsistency and was hoping this may have been the answer.

(Form will always need improving though) :silly:

Ulf trabert (stringwalks) who recently won the barebow 2006 IFAA WFAC and the 2006 EFAC shoots a spring loaded launcher rest (not a drop away) with fingers, shoots around the 500 mark per round!
Is this just application or is he on to something?
