Easton have released the Lightspeed arrow which uses the same construction as the Safari shafts but alot lighter. A 29" 500 shaft weighs 186grains. Paired with a 80 grain point and you are looking at a 268 grain arrow, good 40-50 grains lighter than my CarbonAero Excels.
Using Jims Velocity program I should be able to get around the 280+ FPS while sitting on the 5 grains per pound.
Best part is the shafts cost $106 per dozen. $8.83 each!
Hoping to get some next week, and looking forward to giving them a run.

OK, so 60# hard cam, 30" with 29.5" arrow, would they make one I could get a heavy point in, have it spine, and still get it to about 310 grains? Because I can see these things doing about 310 fps or better! :D :D :D
I have shot the Excel arrows from Easton, which are basically the same structure as the Lightspeed only a bit heavier and they are very strong.
I use them to shoot some 25m at the club, and I have very tight groups with them, and untill now without damage (execpt for that 1 robin hood).
If the Lightspeed has the same strenght, then they should be nice too.
I haven't tried them on longer distances yet.

They sound like they would be worth a try. Although 500 might be a bit soft, and the 400 a bit stiff. :(

Well Sten Nigol has a set of these which he bought for 3D and Indoor shooting and after a few months I am very impressed with his results. These include:
State Minor indoor record, U14 and U16 297
State u14 major record, 290
a pair of 92 3D rounds last weekend shooting senior distance
no breakages as yet
The last one with very impressive as I lost about half my Excels which are a heavier arrow. I think Easton has done an awesome job with these.

Sten's 5'8" tall and shoots about 4-7 days a week and has been for about 3 years now. Can shoot a 30# recurve without struggling and can shoot my ProTec at 54# easily. Hasn't filled out yet either. :o
