It's almost the end of March and these still have not been updated on the AA website. By the time they are the new rankings will be out. :x

Bring back Zenarcher as Webmaster!!!

Thanks Marcus :D :D

I wouldn't want it back though. Being Asst Coach is keeping me that busy that I have trouble finding time to finish off the FrogHollow club website.

Updates ?????? :x

I don't think the new site has any up to date updates does it ?

Very disappointing really. The navigation is confusing and yeah, like Marcus said, by the time they get one set of updates done, they are already out of date. The site is almost useless as it has gone back to the days before ZenArcher took over, where you were lucky to see any new information on there that was any use, for months on end. Does anyone even bother to look at the new site ? I stopped bothering to check months ago.

I know the job wouldn't be easy, but at least with ZenArcher, updates were there every few days or at least once a week, something new was on the site. Not just warm and fuzzy stuff, but real useful information on archery things.

The AA Records on the website are 2 months out of date. :( They should be current to December 31 for Tournament ones and the Junior National ones should include this year's event.

If anyone has any queries about records in the meantime just PM me.... or ask your State Recorder as I send them an updated list each month. :D

Hey Clare,

I'll keep you posted with the selection trial results over the next few days. Today is practice with the FITA tomorrow and the matchplay on wednesday/thursday.

Thanks Zen

Do you think the results from the February selection shoot will be on the website before this week's ones get there??

Clare,

Maybe you and David Rowson ( who does the ranking list for those of you who don't know) can get together with Marcus and have the lists and the up to date records posted here on the forum. At least then we all know that the information will be posted as soon as Marcus gets it. :D :D

AA missed a great opportunity by not appointing Marcus as webmaster. This entire website forum combined with the AA website could have been the one-stop portal website for absolutely anything in archery for the whole of Australia. Forums could have been setup for each of the executive to be able to answer questions directly instead of the long winded process of going through the club secretaries etc. The chance to have something great has been passed up once again. Communication would have been awesome and because it is a forum, no one would be answering the same question over and over. Most likely someone would have already asked it and had it answered.

Guess that AA doesn't like the spread of information out there. Nice to know that the people we pay our fees to are not delivering on what we contribute.
Are AA not paying a company to do these updates as claimed? If so I'ld want a refund!! The AA site has not been updated in almost 2 months.

Here is the March rankings. If they get sent to me I will put them up.

ASB and Marcus,

Apart from the valuable posts from Claire on this B'board, AA, in my long experience, have never been big on distribution of information.

As for the radical suggestion then put forward by ASB to allow members of AA clubs to ask questions directly of AA, this might be deemed totally outrageous by some RGB's as it would infringe apon the limited spectrum of power weilded by State secretaries, who can presently control the information flow. Please note that I am in total sarcastic mode at this point.

To be serious, AA members should not generally need to be disturbed by the variety of members inquiries which should normally be efficiently handled by any effective club secretary. If the club sec can't hack it, then get rid of them. If the State soc (RGB) Sec can't hack it, then get rid of them. But, if following along this path, be sure that you are prepared to stand up to the base plate with an effective replacement.

As a subscriber to this web site for only about the last few months (and stuff you 1/1/70 ego-trippers, but at the same time congratulating you all on the efforts to set this site up), I agree this is an extremely valuable forum for our sport.

But I cannot agree that it is an appropriate forum for general inquiries from AA members directly to AA.

And I have long been a critic of AA, but, Claire, I appreciate your timely contributions to the forum.

Brian

HEAR HEAR!!! This could have been the ultimate Australian Archery Forum...... but I suspect the beaks and suits have had their way - which means we will all get the correct form for Procedure 2.13.7 off the AA site then hightail it over to AF to find out how it applies in the real world...[/quote]

Apologies ASB as the majority of the quote was yours - I don't know how to adjust this as yet.......

Thanks for the kind words Brian.

I live in hope that other AA officers may one day realise that its actually fun being here on AF as well as, hopefully, good promotion for AA as the governing body of FITA archery in Australia. There is no obligation for me to answer queries directly from AA members but I'm willing to try, or to suggest a more appropriate person to ask.

In the meantime I'll endeavour to answer any queries on the records and awards side of things and really do not mind being approached directly :)

Well how AA chooses to distribute it's information is up to AA and I really couldn't care less how they do it......as long as they do it. I have to many things on my plate to be webmaster unless their is some $$ behind it, and we all know that AA does not spend $$ in areas such as things that benefit ALL their members.

What I am tired of is that lack of responce from the AA CEO on emails and the lack of updates on the site.
I have had ALL ignored so far, including when I enquired about webmaster and when I requested that a tournament I was running be a FITA Star event. What's the point in paying someone to do a job if they don't answer emails about work related items!

AA has ALWAYS done a terrible job of communicating with it's members. ABA has a magazine that they even sell in newsagents, and then when people say "hey do this better" AA whinges that they are volunteers and if you don't like it you do it! Well there is nothing that gets my goat more than volunteers who take on a job and do nothing!

Worst thing is that we can no longer go to our state rep and ask why the site is being neglected.

BTW there was never any intention to merge this forum with AA's website. AF will remain an open non affiliated site. However the intention was to give AA their own with a shared memberlist.

Well the bit on the front of the site SAYS it's updated the rankings, but they have not been. Usually when doing web work if you have a what's updated section it's best to do that last. Pretty standard from professional web developers.

No State target results yet either on teh AV site.
