Who is going to the State short range this year?
DVA is sending 17 this year including some juniors who have not shot a comp before, and a couple of newbe adults too!
Thanks to Moorabbin for keeping the price down, and the family rate is great!

The Sherbrooke team seems to be Bernie, Leigh, Bryce and me. Not sure how many are going in total.
I'm not going  but Zoe is.
Its all to do with the 9 months for a set of arrows rule -- a set of arrows lasts me 9 months, it then takes me 3 months to get around to getting a new set, I then start shooting seriously again and am usually shooting at my best around september!!
Should be a good shoot. That is a fearsome team from Sherbrooke, and I can't imagine how Moorabbin will counter it
The question is, how will anyone beat Bernie???
I think the "Moomba Cup" will be staying at Sherbrooke this year!!!

Mike, you seem to forget.
The comp is at Moorabbin.
I beat Bernie there two weeks ago.
It's all to do with the direction the flags aren't blowing.

Is it possible Zoe broke the AV record for an Adelaide? The record is listed as 1130, but I cannot remember Zoe's score. Bryce looked like he was going to get the mens record but 30M was too windy.

Yes Zoe shot 1133 (I have the results)
She also had 287 at 60m which put her into equal second OVERALL (including mens)
Other noticables were Trevor Weston who had not shot since November finished 5th with a 1152 and Nathan Adams from Yarra Valley shot an 1152 Short Adelaide in U16.
DVA did well. Sten won U14, new juniors Nicole Pless won U16 girls compound in her first tournament, and Mandy Pless came second in 12 girls shooting fingers. 8 year old Robbie Carter shot 801 for a Newcastle.

For a while there we were threatening to dump Leigh from our team and put Zoe in it.
The Maverick Archery Team (which I think was unceremonially dumped by the organisers) was also pretty strong: Jim+Bryce+Marcel+John Gally, but I think the Sherbrooke team of Jim+Bryce+Bernie+Leigh would have beaten it. Perhaps Marcus, if you have the results you could check?

With three shots to go: Bryce was three in front of Jim+Bernie+Marcel who were all equal.
Bryce shot a 30.
Jim shot a 29.
Marcel shot a 29.
Bernie shot a 28.
So: Bryce ended up 4 ahead of Jim and Marcel who were 1 ahead of Bernie. Marcel got Jim on a countback of 10's.
It was a lot of fun with such tight competition, and good to see so many archers shooting well.

That's what I love about short range shoots, so open till the end.

sounds like everyone had a good time shooting, I wish we had more interclub shoots up here. the clubs are to far apart for it to happen often.
I know I'll probably get hung for saying this, but I wish I lived in Victoria

PSEBOW - Be careful what you wish for, as you may get it.
Oh to be in Victoria in springtime. I remember Joan Kirner very defensively saying that 'we can have very nice weather in spring', when there was talk of Melbourne applying for the Olympics. I'm sure she is right, just don't blink too hard or you might miss it ! However, there are times in late summer when I wish we had a lot less humidity up here, so I suppose I shouldn't throw too many stones.

I find it funny how arrogant QLDers can be over weather. Each to his own, you can so keep it. :P

Here is the medal count from the shoot! MAC was the home club and that gave them a great advantage.

Right oh you bunch of Pompus Victorian Cowards..........I see you were all hiding at the so Called "Short Course" Champs.
Well WTF were you guys at the Weekend in Canberra??
About 5 of us Queenslanders came down for the FITA Star to give Bryce a box of tissues so he could wipe the tears from his eyes.......practice for the Nationals.....and NOT A BLOODY VIC in sight.
So we all shot 1300's amongst ourselves....got to meet SteveJ and Tony60X and catch up with a few others.
Disappointing guys!!!!......we could of all shot in Brisbane and had the same result.
Thanks to Canberra Club and the Mathews Clan for putting on a Great Shoot.........and to you Victorian Losers......well enough said

Some nice range scores amongst those.
Yes, Saturday here was calm and then Sunday was windy (and Moorabbin is always windy).

Thinking about the scores on Sunday, we did quite well.
In the Mens Compound the previous highest scores for this tournament were:
- Adam Liddy 1163
- Jim Park 1162
These were both shot a few years ago (different years) in reasonable conditions.
This year we had (in a bit of wind):
- Bryce Lee 1166
- Marcel Verstegan 1162
- Jim Park 1162
- Bernie Andrew 1161
And also a State Record for Zoe of 1133.
This leads me to think that the standard has gone up.
For the Adelaide Round, both Wally and I have had 1171 in competition, but they were both in good conditions a few years ago, not as windy as it was on Sunday (and not at Moorabbin where it is usually windy).
