Ever since the earthquake near Taiwan and the floods, I haven't been able to connect to any peer to peer networks with Morpheus. Someone else I know has the same problem with Limewire and his other buddies are similarly screwed.
Do you folks overseas have the same problem?

hm. for me increasingly it has had problems connecting every now and then. There again, my dad changed my router (which was working perfectly) to a new one... every now and then i can't get on to MSN or GMAIL or hamachi. =X so i'm not sure if it's cuz of the router instead.

Perhaps it's something with our ISPs. Hmmmm. Need to ask around some more then.
And reversehaven, none of us are going through any routers.
At first, I thought it was something to do with one of the updates from Microsoft screwing things up but I tried Morpheus on a new Windows XP Professional SP2 installation. Same thing. Couldn't connect.

Isnt this stuff illegal or stealing or something ?:o
No it isn't coach. It CAN be used to do illegal things. But so can almost anything. :P
I've had no problems with BT or Limewire. (besides the problems my modem/router is causing... )

Ok, got a reply from my local ISP. They've done something to curb peer to peer usage so that explains things. Perhaps they haven't recovered full bandwidth after the damage from the floods.

lol, can't you just change the ports you use? or are they doing some sort of sneaky packet inspection?

I think it's the latter. The reply which came back was rather long winded but it boiled down to NO peer to peer usage for the time being but they might have a new plan in future for such use which comes at a premium. According to that email, some countries have such restrictions on connecting to peer to peer networks and special plans too.

Rip off. Don't take that sh*t!
