Anyone from these fourms go to la trobe at bundoora? I was thinking of going down and talking to the admin about starting a club - has this been approached before?
I heard that there is a club at melbourne uni, if anyone from this club is reading could you share some insight as to how we could make this happen?
I kinda lost my point... I want to shoot at uni, help me make it happen... hahaha :D cheers people :thumb:
Hue from Yarra Bowmen here, i've just started at Deakin Uni, the sports club organizers there said get 15 people together and you,ve got a new sport going with their help, see what la trobe has to offer along those lines

Thing is you have DVA about 15 minutes down the road and Yarra Bowmen about 10 minutes in the other direction.
Why put in all that work when you have 2 great facilities nearby?

And no student union fees to fund a club either. :o I have to solidly agree with Marcus.

I do agree also, but there does seem to be a lack of 18-25s in the sport. By having uni archery clubs it may encorage more to join or even stay in the sport.

Hrm... all good points...
My main point is that im too lazy to drive to YB or DVA, and 15min either way cuts in to the whole attracting of shooting while on break or before unit...
*cough* maybe DVA could run an auxiliary at La Trobe... *cough*
Get an area to use on the campus and set them up for DVA...

I have to say that I really haven't noticed that at all...

If there was archery on campus, I wouldn't study at all. Probably better for me if there isn't. :)

hmmm, an archery club on campus, would you really mix a sport that we love, with some (not all) students that haven't heard of the term 'personal hygiene'
i know where i go, i think 1 in 7 people wash themselves, i couldn't shoot next to someone with flies swarming everywhere :o

I can think of a few archers that are rather lacking in personal hygeine too...

Must be just NSW, but a can't think of a single NSW shooter in that age group who is regularly at tournaments and is not in a uni club.

Good on NSW for providing a whole lot of uni based archery clubs! As far as I know, Vic does not widely support archery a lot outside of the archery community...which includes universities.
