Hi all! I was wondering what your recommendations for arrow rests are. I am looking for a rest that is easily adjustable in height (to accommodate for different arrow sizes) and doesn't cost in excess of $30. Is there any advantage to a "wrap-around" style rest over the regular tape-on rests (other than cool looks ;))?

its more adjustable but it'll be more than $30 dollars. I think the Win&win rest is fine but now I think its just renamed as the KAP rest.

yeah, I was was eyeing that one already. Btw, I should have mentioned that I am currently using a Hoyt Super rest.
Any other suggestions?

ARE rock... I dropped mine in the drive way at the in-laws and it was still fine a week later.
It does sting to pay that much for a fancy bit of bent wire though.

The Win & Win is pretty good. There is some adjustability and it's fairly cheap. I've been using the same one for about six months and it hasn't moved.

LOL, somebody actually drove over it? That would explain the price then...

hm. you're talking about the w&w one... is it the roundish one? or the rectangular (chrome coloured/silver coloured) one? the roundish one i know it's called the KAP rest now. i'm thinking of getting one but weighing the benefits of it above the new W&W WMR 200 and 300... that one looks dead solid but it's not adjustable like the KAP one (if that's the one youre talking about) since it has a small screw you can use to adjust the height of your flipper.

I agree with Erika. I have used the W&W rest & does not compare at all.

Mmm might give ARE a try next time... got Cavalier Elite atm and its working alright, What sort of adjustments are there on the ARE rests and what are the differences in the many ARE rests?
Cavalier's new Champion II is certainly worth a look, and for around $25.00 USD it's a bargain. Fully adjustable for sweep and height.
I'm also quite fond of the ARE rests, especially with the 1.05 mm wire.

Looks quite solid! What difference does the thickness of the wire make? Some are really thin, then others 9mostly wrap-around types) have a lot thicker wires. Does that effect the arrow in any way?

Hey GT
How does it attach to the bow? Looks quite nice.

The new cavalier rest is a stick on, not wrap around.

I didn't notice it at first until Marcus asked. As a lefty, I'm used to seeing the mounting plate on the left side of the riser.
Marcus,
The Cavalier Champion II uses 3M VHB to stick to the riser- very effective.
Attached are a couple more photos to show the mechanism. It's actually quite well done.

Looks nice, Arranged to get some in last night and I know that Pat's Archery has some on the way.
Cheers GT :thumb:
While we are on the subject, here are a couple of photos of the new ARE H2 rest, which is custom designed for the Hoyt Helix, Eclipse, and Nexus risers.
It has an improved magnet mount, the magnet is inserted into the plate from behind so there's no chance of loss as with some of the previous ARE rests.
This example is with the 1.05 wire and is on my outdoor bow.
One thing I prefer about the new Cavalier rest is that it allows you to screw the sight knob from a Shibuya or Sure Loc sight into the rest side of the sight window using the outboard rest mount hole (which, comments from my friend Vittorio aside, is NOT meant for a plunger ;)). It's a handy way to protect your rest wire during transport. Obviously you can't do that with the ARE H2 rest but there are other models that do allow it.

So that's what that's for? Did not know that, and not something that ever occurred to me.
What makes the ARE H2 different from other ARE's that is suits the Helix etc?

That's rather nifty....
I will admit to never having even wondered why there was another hole there. I didn't have a use for it so I didn't worry about it. :D
The true purpose of the outboard 5/16-24 hole is to allow bolting a trailing arm rest (such as a Cavalier Elite) to the riser, because most cushion plungers are not well-suited to holding such rests in place. Of course some people use it as a secondary plunger location (with varying levels of success), but that's not the design intent.
Most ARE rests, like the AM series, will overhang the radius on the face (archer) side of a Helix, Nexus or Eclipse by about 3 mm, but the H2 model has the through hole closer to the wire pivot to avoid this.
Other than that, and the magnet installation (which is being rolled into all other ARE rests, as far as I know) there's no difference between the H2 and other, similarly designed ARE rests. Just a small aesthetic thing. (The model name does sound sukoshi funny in Japanese, though...:))
I have probably handed out 50 ARE rests over the past couple of years and people love them, the nonadjustable models are quite trouble-free. But the Cavalier is a great design too, and something of a bargain, especially since it has rock-solid adjustability. (The adjustable ARE stick-on rests are a little sketchy with that tiny Phillips screw, though mine have been trouble-free.)

Pat put one on my Matrix for me today. I liked the ARE I was using but the Cavalier I think will be better, especially for barebow.
I'm sure there are many other advantages of the Cavalier that 'real' archers will appreciate too. :p

i currently have the hoyt super rest on all my 3 x-factors and use the short beiter plunger from LAS...the AAE cavalier champion II looks very interesting and i am thinking of changing to it as i like the looks and the versatility of not having to change rests when changing from my thin ac arrows to the fatter aluminums or gold tips for indoor....my question is if i can still use the short beiter plungers if i do...would appreciate any replies...thank you...

From what I have seen you would use exactly the same plunger button as you use now. Be aware however I am not a recurve shooter (well only a little), and I am going from what I have seen since Archers have purchased these rests from me and started using them

Don't see why you'd need a different plunger length with that rest since it's not a wraparound. Unless your centershot changes with different rests. :D
