View Full Version : Archery ACT FITA Field
I'm heading to Canberra to shoot in Archery ACT's first official field shoot since their Cotter course was reduced to ashes in the 2003 fires. Well done to Tuggeranong Archery Club for building a new course from scratch and for holding the ACT Field Title for 2007.

I'll echo those comments. Tuggeranong have done a really good job and I think you'll enjoy the course. The forecast is warmish but lightning free Saturday and a storm not forecast until late Sunday. This is of some significance because there have been storms in the area every day for it seems like at least the last two weeks. Have to admit to being glad I had a longbow in my hands last Saturday afternoon when lightning suddenly seemed terribly close. Anything metallic might have provided a bit of a buzz!

Yes, really good shoot and full marks to Tuggeranong for running an unmarked FITA. There should be more of them. Nobody lost any arrows that I heard about. The weather was pretty well perfect, a bit on the warm side if anything. Tomorrow's marked FITA round promises to be interesting.

Nice score Enlightened One. :D
Don't forget that the AA Field Record previously for a combined 24 Marked FITA Field PLUS 24 Unmarked FITA Field can, as from January 1 2007, be claimed for any 48 Target FITA Field combination of Marked/Unmarked (M + UM, 2 x M or 2 x UM).
The change became logical with so few Unmarked FITA Field rounds being run. The scores tend to be similar as the distances are shorter for Unmarked, and in fact skilled gauging means that in many cases the scores for Unmarked courses are higher than Marked for some archers!!

356 is sweet ;) Well done!
:D
On the Saturday we shot the Short FITA Field round, with some very odd distances. Pegs were not marked but all archers were given a sheet of the distances for reference. More than half the competitors chose to shoot the course as unmarked, confirming my belief that support exists for the continued availablity of that round.
