View Full Version : The NV system
I've read on the equipment reviews about this product and was wondering what you all thought about it ?
Paul from the nock shop put some on my bow tonight to see what I thought, He mentioned James has them on both his bows but honestly it didn't feel any different, Yes it did make it quiet but vibration didn't feel any different, to be fair I didn't have sights or anything else on my bow but as I say it really didn't feel any different, we're going to try it again on friday with everything on the bow but do people really feel any difference ?

When I first got my PSE Quantum Leigh Cornish and I experimented with the NV system. We found that we could detach the rubbers fairly easily so we could do tests with them both on and off with little time between. Our conclusion was that they do make a difference, with the vibrations being reduced with them on (but note that the Quantum is a reasonably smoothly shooting bow anyway).
I also put them on my Thunderbolt, and here the difference was not as noticable (the Thunderbolt is a higher energy bow and not as smooth to shoot as the Quantum).
Hence, my conclusion is that they do make a difference, but that it is bow-dependent.
My Xcellerator did not come with them attached, but I will probably try them (although it is a very smoothly shooting bow to start with, despite its very short length).
I have also tried the small NV system that sticks on the limbs (tried it on the Mach 9.5 I used at the 1999 Nationals), but found in this case that they were not worthwhile (I could not tell any difference at all).

I did some playing around with these also when I was shooting a Mach 5 last year and also with a Thunderbolt.
On the Thunderbolt (which I was more interested in using them with) I found the same as Jim. No difference whatsoever. Not even a drop in vibration.
On the Mach 5 however I found a big improvement in the way the bow reacted on the shot. The Mach 5 would tend to kick one way or the other, yet with the NV's that really dropped off alot.
The Quantum is, IMO, a rather vibration filled bow due to it's construction being made from a single piece of alluminium. The Mach series have pivoting limb pockets so they will take out some cibration. I can really believe that the Quantum would benifit greatly from them, but other bows are a trial and error.
At $99 they are cheap enough to buy and try and put away for a later bow.
One thing with the NV's are their weight too. They are quite heavy and some difference in the bow dynamics will be felt just from that. The Mach 5 benifits greatly from weight under the grip and at the limb pockets.
Thanks for that guys, am I right in assuming it's more for high speed single cam bows ? Apart from Marcus's mach 5 !
Interesting to read that James mach 9.5 didn't feel different at all. Must just be the Mach 9 series are just that dam good it dosn't need it ;) Have you tried them on your hoyt at all Marcus ? At least we now know yes on the Mach 5 and Quantum but no on the Mach 9 and 9.5 I thought they might on the mach 9.5 due to it being shorter then my mach 9 but with them being such deflex risers guess they're to good for the NV system :)

Havn't bothered on my UltraTec. It has 0 vibration. For example i shoot a plain alloy long rod. Tried a multirod and it made no difference. Can't remove vibration that just isn't there.

My PSE Mach10 did not have the NV system installed on it but the next model year is was included with the Mach1O. That tends to support thef act they do make a difference. Might just be PSE and Simms are in bed together somehow! I do know of one person that in 4 days time shot 4
NFAA field rounds with a Mach 5 I believe. He alternated fist day without, second and third with, last without. Can not remember the exact score but strange ly he shot three points better with the NV's something like 520,523,523,520. Thats not enough to be conculsive but he wound up leaveing them on the bow then later removed them to put on new bow and sold the mach 5
