Does anyone know who's offering coaching at the moment ?
I'm putting in scores between MB and on a good day GMB But am wanting to take my shooting up to that next level so if anyone can suggest somebody that would be great, I'm willing to pay whatever the going rate is for coaching so thats not a problem

As far as I am aware, it is as follows:
- I provide coaching on an individual basis at the Nock Shop (usually Friday evenings, or Monday evenings, half an hour for $20, arranged through Alan at the shop).
- I think Rod Miller provides individual coaching (at his factory, I think).
- Leigh Cornish also provides coaching (or at least used to).
- Bill Williams at Moorabbin.

Other than that, I am not aware of any others, aside from the sessions we provide under the auspices of the State Coach from time to time, but these are usually for groups of archers rather than for individuals.

I think it is a good idea to have a coach, as they will (or at least a good one will) be able to see things that you as an archer probably miss. For example, I have put a lot of time into getting Bryce to stand up straight rather than lean back, and generally he is not aware of it until I mention it (then he corrects it immediately).

You need to select a coach carefully, and to have mutual arrangement that either the archer or the coach can terminate the interaction if they think it is not working and beneficial.

I am very strongly of the opinion that you need to select a coach who always looks at the positive aspects rather than the negative (that is: the glass is half full rather than half empty).

While I don't have the qualifications of Jim in coaching I do do it for club members at our club for shooters who have their own gear only. (no beginners)
I think that one off sessions can be helpful but to get to the next level you really need someone who you shoot with constantly and knows your shooting habits. That person doesn't need to do alot, just pick up on small changes when things go wrong. Anyone can have good form when being coached, it's when the pressure is on that you see the faults.
Also I have 2 rules when someone is being coached.
a) Only go to 1 coach. There is no one way of doing things, so playing them off against each other is bad.
b) Do what you are told and don't argue back.

Had the same rules when I coached Grid Iron, however at least there you could hit someone if they didn't listern.
