A reminder to all ABA members,
The state IFAA titles will be hosted by lilydale on the 11th and 12th of may.
Your ABA rep should have entry forms and fliers by now.
I made an error with the distribution. If anybody wants an entry form email me and I will forward a copy to you. :) :) BruceKelleher@access.net.au[EMAIL2]BruceKelleher@access.net.au

Do I need to join ABA to shoot it?
Damn, that's right between 2 tournaments for us.

Unfortunately Marcus,
Because it is a state title you do need to be a member of ABA as I would need to be a member of av to shoot in your state titles.
Damn beurecrats :mad :mad
The sooner we get cross over provissions the better.

It's a damn shame that a series of rounds such as IFAA is only shot by ABA members in this country. It would be in ABA'd best interest to work together with AA to open IFAA up as the National field standard. It's not FITA so it shouldn't be a solely AA round, and it's not bowhunting practise so it shouldn't be solely ABA either.
Sigh
Been thinking of joining ABA just to shoot mopre of it anyway.

I can understand that for State Titles only members can be considered for medals - that is only reasonable, and exactly what AV does when archers from interstate compete in our State Target for example.
Agree with Marcus that it would be attractive for greater numbers of our field archers to shoot the various field disciplines - both the IFAA and FITA rounds. They are both good rounds (and different in their demands). Increased numbers of competitors helps us all, as far as I can see.
One important thing to try to do is to make sure that the ABA and AV tournament calenders do not have clashes, otherwise any mixing, or those who have memberships with both, is somewhat limited. For example I think last year we have both the ABA and AV State Indoor Championships on the same weekend and at the same time. I know of a few people who are members of both ABA and AV who then had to miss one of the events.
I remember sherbrooke used to have an IFAA shoot that allowed AV people in it about 8-9 years ago, Don't know if they still do it but it was the first time I had ever shot IFAA and I had a great time and thought it was fantastic !

Whilst I can see merit in checking each others calenders , I can't really see it happening . Most of the av archers that I know in ABA are really only interested in IFAA not the aba game.(not enough arrows) if through co operation we can arrange the IFAA and fita field shoots around each other that may be acceptable but it will take compromise on both sides .Will the av board co operate or dictate???
Do you mean to say that I as an ABA member can shoot in your state field titles ?? I don't care about blocks of wood but what about insurance ?????
I really would like to see all archers come together and enjoy what we really like to do , watch arrows find their mark.

Yes, I think we would need to get cooperation on both sides. I am reasonably sure that AV would not have a problem in picking dates to suit. The key problem is that AV does not know what dates ABA want to use, and vice versa (I think).
Certainly IFAA would be attractive to AV archers (and hopefully vice versa with FITA Field and target). I also know a number of AV archers who like the ABA round (although for me it is too few arrows).
As you say Bruce, I think insurance is the key issue, but we must be able to get around that somehow.

DVA is looking into the insurance issue and from what we can gather AA's public liability covers all who shoot at a AA club. No mention of belonging to the AA body at all. It covers the club and board from litigation due to injury. So it means that ABA can shoot at AV events without issue.
BTW if ABA shooters want to shoot our May shoot, you are welcome.

no idea on the finish. Shouldn't be a long day at all. We will probably get started around 9-9:30 and I would expect to finish shooting around 2-3pm.
