Had a shot of a Hoyt UltraTec XT2000 with the dual track idler wheel the other day. What a sweet piece of work. With no stabilizer or sight it was very very smooth to shoot. The draw was no where near as harsh as some single cam bows and on release there was no noticable kick from the bottom wheel, or any vibration through the handle at all. I'm not a fan of single cams ingeneral, however I could quite happily shoot one of these. If you get a chance to try one it's worth a shot.
Any chance your going to try a cybertech or a Havoctech as I'm starting to look round for a bow that can be set up purely as a 3-D and field bow, ie bloody quick !!!
Bugger just released they're the ones that have the cable guard up near the sights, have always shot bows with low cable guards, does it put you off having it up near your eye line ?

Gareth , I have shot bows with cable gaurds in both positions and have not had a problem with them ., but that is me they may not suit you.
Don't go to radical if you are looking for a bow to shoot accurate field with (fita or IFAA) if you are looking for a bow for purely 3D or aba Paper then go for the quickest wildest piece of machinery you can afford but remember at 48 meters you still only have 4 inches to play with .

I've shot Luke's CyberTec with Command Cams and put 3 into the inner 10 at 18m on a 40cm face. Very nice, Just sat still and no vibration. Was doing 297fps with it. If I had to choose between the 2 for ABA and 3D I would personally take the UltraTec because as Bruce said, you still need to be accurate. However I think you couldn't go wrong with the CyberTec. Stay away from the HavocTec. It is too radical. There is a warning in the catalog to check with your store before buying one. From what I can gather there are about 5 people in Australia who could shoot one accuratly. Also 300fps is the limit in ABA so there is no need going too radical.
The cable guard is not an issue. I shoot my Mach 5 with a high cable guard too. Go down to Bows Arrows Bits and shoot the UltraTec there, you'll see what I mean.

I now prefer a high cable guard. It means you can get the cable guard quite near the arrow, and hence get good clearance without having to have the cables pulled too far to the side. Also, with single cam bows I think it is better to take the largest string angle on the wheel end rather than on the cam end, so for that reason also I prefer the high cable guard.
Each of my current bows, all single cams, (PSE Quantum, PSE Thunderbolt and PSE Xcellerator) has the cable guard at the top. The bow I used to win the 1999 Nationals (PSE Mach 9.5) had a low cable guard, and it shot beautifully as well.
Prior to his Hoyt sponsorship, Clint shot a PSE with high cable guard (I think).
Thanks for your input all, so far I've narrowed the choices of what I like for a pure field/3-d bow down to a tec bow, a team primos, a quantum and maybe an alt services bow, but I've heard they don't work unless you shoot CT'S out of them, with kurly vanes of course !! haha
decisions, decisions !

If you are going PSE look at the Nitro over the Team Primos or Quantum. The Team Primos uses the Magnaglass limbs. Our count of limb beakages for this year has 8 of these limbs gone. The Nitro and Quantum don't use this limb.
The AltServices bows are a little touchy from what I have heard. (Some UYA guys shoot em, ask Colin for his opinion on them)
Another bow to think about is the Champion Contender bow. It has a reverse recurve limbs for extra speed and a design similar to the Mathews.

Gareth ,
Give Pete a ring first .
I am not sure he has all the range on hand .
Don't waste a trip expecting there to be a bow for you to shoot .
