Wouldn't surprise me that Auckland were teaching Counter-Strike in Compsci. It'd be a step up from Java at least...

Its funny, the attitude of some people these days, they think that the world owes them everything.
Instead of being paid at the end of a working week for the work that they have done they expect to be paid before doing the work. It

and yeah Doom is last century. I am cool with that, it is nothing compared to Lemmings

.........they too have made sh*t loads of cash from it.
Its sad, but many of the young people........
One day they will all have to accept reality that, One must work to get paid.
Stryker.... you sound SO middle-aged........

They hear and see the success stories of CEO’s, Web Developers, Game Developers and other IT guru's that sat on their a*s and made a sh*t load of money. We all hear success stories from people that have come up with great ideas from sitting at home and they too have made sh*t loads of cash from it.
You know, a lot of people that have made money out of IT have done it by doing an incredible amount of work - yeah at the end of last century there were a lot of "web developers" being paid a fortune for nothing, but I hardly think it's fair to point the finger at game developers and suggest they do no work - in fact from what I've heard the reverse is pretty much true.
I won't argue on the others though ;-)
Its sad, but many of the young people I have met think that they too will achieve the same income levels, for doing as little as possible. So many of them want to do as little as possible and be paid extremely well for it. I have employed young people wanting to have a go (16 – 23 yrs old) that turn up to work for a week and then start having days off.
Why is it that they all expect to be “Rich and Famous” with out putting in the hard work. Is it the success stories that creates a false dream?
One day they will all have to accept reality that, One must work to get paid.
My impression is that governments have (I know ours has) been promoting this happy clapping world where everyone has a degree and a cushy office job as a result, which is of course just total bollocks, but a lot of people appear to believe what politicians say.

Yeah, unfortunately one can't get away with communicating exclusively with computers. And even if you do, computer science demands 100% precision in spelling. It's almost as tough as Clare.

Lemmings FTW!
How have we got this far without finding out what framerate he gets?

And we've avoided all the Slashdot comments like "But does it run Linux?" and "In communist Russia, counter-strike runs YOU!"

No idea on that stuff. But it is playable, allot of the writing is hard to read because it was designed for the photo/video screens and the movements are rather limited, only walk forward, turn left/right and shoot.
If you haven't worked out the joke yet this one is a dead giveaway

I don't care what anyone says. Doom II was an awesome game in the mid 90's. It got me through my fellowship exams.
