We're using AVG, which I'm pretty sure there's a free version of. It seems to be relatively good as a program, dunno what it's like at detecting virii.

As a temp fix try Trend micro House call. Its not an anti virus program but its a check done over the internet. It may help until you get an anti virus program up and running. :thumb:

recurve boy suggested the best option - Ubuntu is actually capable of downloading a file without corrupting it :-P

i vote to use agv... i have been using it for ages. (well three years) i have not had any problems at all it gets rid of every thing there is that i have come across. if you really want there are many cd keys out there so you could download the full version and just enter one of then and there is free agv...
i vote it the best out there atm...

I work for an internet helpdesk (sorry, can't name them), we routinely "suggest" both AVG and Avast with great results. If you get a corrupt download I can only suggest trying again, it generally works OK. Just ensure you check the config settings are set to your prefered level of protection, and away you surf.
Good luck with whatecer you choose.

Viruses. Silly scientific types who want to make our language MORE complicated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plural_of_virus
