Saw a list that got sent around the other day indicating only 25 people were currently registered for Indoor Nationals this year (I'm not one of them) and was just wondering if people are doing the last minute thing and intending to shoot??

How does everyone feel about the format ie rounds shot for this years one as opposed to previous years Indoors?? Is everyone happy shooting 3 x 18m FITA's or would they prefer a bit more variety?? (please correct me if thats changed)

What does everyone think about split venues?? Personally am in favour, but I know of others who don't like it.

What would be everyones ideal format??

Not that any of the above really matters........just something to dribble on aimlessly about!!

personally i think the 3 18m fitas is the biggest turn off of the indoors this year.
i like close to a venue and will be there for the two days but have no interest in shooting the tournament as i find 18m fitas a rather uninteresting shoot.

i think in previous years when their was a 25m round or two were better.

just my opinion.

I think the 25m round was good as well but I beleive that they stopped it because the Shore venue couldnt cope with it, I think it would have been better to have another shoot in it like a portsmouth to add a bit of varity, I feel split venues are the only way to go it gives all the archers in the country a chance to take part and the more archers who take part the better, more competition, it also means you get to know the other archers from other bow types better, one year I had a crossbow on one side and a recurve on the other.

Doesn't happen at the Shore venue, it's restricted to recurves :(

I like multi-venues. Indoor is not a discipline that I honestly care that much about, so wouldn't travel very far to compete in it.

I think people get too anxious about how 'interesting' a shoot is. I don't see how shooting different distances makes it any more interesting - it's still a target! However, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, the 25m shoots can get a bit long for some venues. Would be nicer if we had better and larger venues, but only a couple of venues will be archery specific, and most will be hired out, so our choice is limited.

Haven't decided yet whether I'll shoot the tournament. At the moment it's a 'probably'. Though after the entry form was sent out, there has been next to no publicity for the event, so many people may not be aware of the tournament being in August instead of September?

I shot the three 18M FITA's at Gisborne, but I would like to see 18M FITA, 25M FITA and a 18M Portmouth, IMO

It would be really good if New Zealand could arrange to hold their indoor nationals on the same weekend as the Australian indoor nationals. That is: the weekend of WIAC.
That way we can all be part of WIAC, our national indoor and our state indoor. It can be a way larger event and a whole lot of fun.

this would be a great idea really. wouldnt be to hard either. just need to get the NZ organisers of the event on board. i know i would shoot our indoor nationals if it was in an event like this also.

How about we get a date for the Trans-Tasman before doing anything else too taxing...

Archery Australia has made it pretty clear that the Trans-Tasman is dead and buried.

Maybe it needs a clout event to fit in with their "core values".
