View Full Version : Anti doping rules
Hi anyone know what the current standing is on taking prescription painkillers before a shoot ? I mean prescribed by a surgeon not illegal drugs :) obvously James knows a fair bit about this after the Nats but was just wondering if I have to let AA know, I doubt I would ever get tested but just out of interest

Your Surgeon will be able to check wether the drugs are on the banned list and if they are you may be able to change medication or get some sort of exemption??

The Australian Sports Drug Agency has a small handbook "Drugs in sport". It list all of the banned drugs (although it is not sport-specific). I have a copy (cost less than $10).
There is also a drugs hotline run by ASDA, and you can ring them to get sport-specific information about particular drugs.
If you do need to take a banned drug (such as I do), there is a set of paperwork you need to get filled in by your doctor, for submission to ASDA.
AA has a Drugs Policy" which lists a lot of this stuff (a copy was handed out at the Nationals, and I have a copy).

There is that other " Drugs in Sport" book authored by Jackson Fear.
It has good information on what to do with your bow when you can't shoot it for 2 years ;)
Also has a comprehensive list of techniques for Managers in the Art of Tuning a Blind Eye :D
Hehehe....follow Jim's Advise and get it right. The ASDA aren't too forgiving on mistakes.
haha quite a good one Paul :) I'll light up a big joint, sit back and read it ! ;)

I am currently going through the process of getting my medications approved. Hard to believe the difficulty! It hasn't yet got to rubber gloves and body cavity examination, but is much more complex than I would have imagined.
