View Full Version : adding info
Maybe somebody can answer this one for me. Is it possible to add arrows that ain't on the list rather then having to add new arrow info then save them as a file each time ?

Gareth,
No, the arrow details are in the code.
I have been thinking for some while of putting them outside the code so that updates are easier, but it is rather complex to do so (because of the number of variations in things like point weights and permitted nock types). Hence, where people have already purchased a copy and the update is just arrow or bow data I am happy to provide the new .exe file by email.
Which arrows would you like added? I am in the process of adding the Navigators.

Tony,
They are in but under "Doosung". I will add the new name.

Can VB read XML files? Is so that could be an easy solution where people can download an updated list that is just an XML file. If they can figure out how to update themselves then great, if not they wait for the 10-20k updated file.
James, Maybe you could speak to Marcus about setting up a request form where people could ask for spec files ?

I am pondering the possibility of putting the data for bows and arrows into .dat files that are read by the program when the user selects bow or arrow types. That way you could simply download a new set of .dat files (or edit them yourselves) as new bows and arrows become available.
How would that be?
I will try a couple of experiments along those lines in the next week or so (after the Nationals).
James sounds like a good idea :) Just think if you can come up with a way in which the punters can enter their own info there will be no need for you to do it :) Just ask people to enter their info into a "Knowledge base" and you'll be laughing !

I must have an old version of Accurate Sights. There is no Doosung arrow in the drop down menu. How do I get an updated version?
Tony
Tony apart from buying a new version, you can add the arrow specs by going to other and putting in the weight and size of arrow. Maybe ask James when the next major release will be ready and hold off till then. I know Archers Advantage and The archery program don't put doo sung info on their software, maybe this opens up a door for AS ?
