After so many years shooting Sights I am really enjoying getting back to Barebow .
Its what I started archery at and I think it is really what I enjoy the most

I'm thinking if ever I took up archery, I think I'd be tempted to try barebow recurve.

Why not? Look what Debra Popov-Conroy did at the Indoors! Wow - after only 12 months.

I doubt I could ever devote enough time to be more than a casual weekend shooter which really doesn't do archery any justice...

if you are going to do barebow anything...longbow is the way to go...how it was intended :D

I think you'll find that people shot compounds with out Sights as soon as they were developed .
I'll stick to my compound the longbow is for novelty events only

how ironic ;)
Not at all ironic. I shoot compound because it is what I shoot, but I do it properly - ie it is a precision instrument meant for additions - how it was intended.
If I was to shoot recurve, again, I would do it properly...ie with sights etc. Again, a precision instrument meant for accuracy with a LOT of engineering going into it.
Longbow, IMO is the only bow meant for shooting without any accessories - the way it was intended.
I'm not having a go at anyone who shoots differently, there are many different reasons for this, but my philosophy is if you are going to do something, you do it properly and for me the above is what I think.
