Hey all
I was just wondering if anyone has shot the new mathews ICON yet. I tried it at their booth at the vegas shoot in february and it was the smoothest bow i had ever pulled backAND let down. Everything about it was smooth, though i didnt shoot it. Now our store just got one in recently and it feels nothing like what I pulled back in vegas. I've tried tweeking the string and cable both, every which way but loose but I just cant get the same "wall" or letoff even. It almost feels like 60% letoff with TWO walls. I have to really pull into it to keep it back into the wall. Does anyone know of anything else I can do to get it right?
Thanks, Randy

Sorry Randy can't help you on that. Just looking at the picture of the ICON and it's an interesting looking wheel on the bottom. Does anyone know more about the wheel they re using?

i know its probably a stupid question randy , but is your bow the same draw length as the one you pulled back at vegus? what is your draw length? did you pull the one at vegus back with fingers only? and do you shoot with a release aid , what type? p.s i shoot a q2xl 25 inch draw carter atension release aid.

I just cant make up my mind!

Solid wall, different feel in drawing.

The bottom wheel/cam has two (about) 1.5mm holes in it, if you line these up with a straight edge, the edge should be parallel with the string. This is to get the correct rotation of the cam, if its out it will make a difference in the way it feels.

How does it shoot?...well I've now had one for a week, its the sweetest bow that I've shot in ages, holds still, quiet and shoots where I aim (and thats a pity as I don't always get to aim at the X ;) )

The bottom wheel is a wheel from one side, but turn it round and look at the other...theres the cam, and on my 27" draw theres a wall that other manufacturers would be proud of.

Shoot well

Hi Marcus

:D nice pick up...yes I am still a PSE Pro Shooter, but lets face it, I'm testing the Icon so how silly would I look promoting both :) especially as they are direct competition.

I try just about every bow, just in case I find something better suited to me. I still go back to my Mach 10, but the Icon is a very nice bow and all I was doing was to try and help.

For the record, I shot a double round at the weekend, saturday I used the Icon, sunday the Mach 10, set a new PB sat only to beat it on the sunday, so which is best...hell I don't care, the Mach has given me a few more points so I'm well happy

Shoot well

I recieved the first icon in the country 3weeks ago this is the smoothest ouietest bow bar none, the bow has a very gentle draw and aims like no bow I have ever shot, I shot 1328 straight out of the box and upped that score to 1357 one week later with a little bit of tuning. Get a huge buzz out of watching peoples faces when they shoot this bow, Bought one for my wife and several frtends have already ordered theirs, It will be interesting to see what the other manufactures do next year to try and match this bow

i shot the legacy and icon and i would say go with the legacy. reason being the icon had some vibration and hand shock. it was very noticeable. i don't shoot mathews and i have no biast opinion of the bows. i shoot pse and hoyt. i shot them both with no sights no peep no stabilizer and with the shaffer dropaway rest. the legacy won hands down in my opinion. good luck

Just Recived My New ICON. Will be trying it at DVA tommorrow night.
Total cost of getting it here from the US was $1210 au. To buy it from an OZ dealer would of cost $1500 au +.
It took about 3 weeks.

LIES! It was taken out of context!! :)

Yeah it's a nice bow. Don't know about the cable guard setup. Zero vibration is an overstatement, you can feel in in the front of the riser. However it should shoot very well.

Just a note to congratulate Colin on his fine shooting with his new bow today. Very nice shooting there. I think you'll post some challenging scores with this bow. 287 at 60m and 290 at 50m during a Perth. Top stuff! Now you just need a set of Doo Sungs and you'll be GMBing in no time. :D

Still wouldn't buy one personally though. 8)

Set at 55lb - 28.5 draw - still shooting my 210 carbon Techs that I had from my last bow, they vary in lengh by about 5mm & I dont think they all have the same point weight.
Thinking about getting some new ones.

Just been playing with the doosung arrows strawberries and cream with the icon, only trouble is I,ve blown all the outsert nocks off, am waiting for peter abbey to send some pins so I can try them, if you play target archery these look like a good proposition. Cheers
