Anyone game to admit their scores or ratings? Just so i can get an idea of how im going compared to others of my age. Im shooting recurve but that doesnt mean compounderers cant post their scores.

My scores are
FITA - in the 1000's
Usually around the 1030's. Best is 1085 in practice closely followed by a 1080 today. But still yet to get a fita star as every star shoot ive been to has been in crappy weather.

FITA 900 - in the 700's
Usually get around 720. Best is 782 in practise but that was only once.
missed out on my 750 fita award by 8 points once (Shot a bloody 8 on the wrong target on the first end :( )

Recurve as well, and should be similar - I have yet to shoot a full FITA this year, but one done in a hell of a hurry at the end of last season when I was still getting used to my bow was a 1050 including two misses at 90m...

Recurve for me :D
My competition pb for the FITA is 943, although it was only the third time I had shot a FITA. Strangely enough I have never shot a FITA in practice??

For the FITA900/Canberra it's in the 600s but that was last year before I was using my clicker. I think it was 640something (wind, rain, only got limbs the day before so no sight settings).

Can't wait to get some Triples to see what they will do to my scores.

Shooting a compound here. PB in FITA was in the low 1200's. 1224 I think. Wasn't officially scored (practice round for a tournament I didn't end up going to) though so I didn't get a star for it :x

Last officially recorded Fita was when I was in U16's L. Fita for 1115. Got a nice bronze star for that one. As for other rounds, I wouldn't have a clue as I haven't shot for 6 years and have yet to shoot a proper round with my equipment.

Can't post any scores since I've never shot a FITA or a FITA 900 ever.
Best score in a Geelong on a compound was 824/900 but that was before a decent bow and release aid

FITA scores: Competition - 1157 today (SQAS champs)
Practice - 1202
Double - 2298
FITA 70: 604
FITA 900: Somewhere in early 800's I believe. Shirt would know, I think it is still the York Uni Archers club record...? Yes, 804, sounds about right!
FITA 18: 554
FITA 25: 545

best competition FITA was a 1202 with my recurve (shot at 99 junior nats)

best ever compound FITA at state ranking 1155, when I was dead set on my carbon safaris.

ever since StevenB sold me his ACCs, my practice scores climbed, they really made a diff. sub 1250 in practice.

best recurve FITA practice over 1000 with my old Hoyt GM.
currently can't break 950 with new aerotec.

what's a FITA 900? 30 50 70?

Aarleks
30-04-2003, 08:43 PM
FITA900 is also the Canberra: 30 arrows each at 60, 50, and 40m.

For FITA rounds, are the longest distances always shot first, with the closest last? Or there is no actual "official" order that they have to be shot at?...

Aarleks
30-04-2003, 09:52 PM
They are mostly shot longest to shortest. However, the FITA rules state that they may be shot either way, the only constraint being that it must be consistent i.e. no 30, 70, 50, 90 stuff.

Zoe started a great thread on precisely this topic in the 'Target...' section. I think it was in September - around then anyway.

FITA 900: Somewhere in early 800's I believe. Shirt would know, I think it is still the York Uni Archers club record...?

804, so not far off.

And it's only still the record because we've decided that the "no 80 yards on your own" thing is bloody silly, and so it's at least 80 yards...

(For the rest of you, there used to be a rule that unless there were two of you at the range, you couldn't shoot beyond 60 yards. A FITA 900 is 60m (near enough), so we used to do a lot of them when we were waiting for someone else to turn up...)

Is there anybody on this forum that is on the Australian Uni National team? Or is there anybody that knows what scores you have to be shooting to get in???

Aarleks
08-05-2003, 05:16 PM
Hi Jolly, :D
From memory, for the team to Daegu the compound scores were something like 1320 for men and 1300 for women. Recurve was 1240 for men and 1220(?) for women. You must have shot these scores in competition to be eligible for selection. There is no official financial support provided. I have the joint AA/AUS blurb at home if you would like more info.

I think this is a little counter productive. A lower qualification score would be more conducive to promoting Uni archery. More people would apply. So what if they didn't score so well - at least they would be competing for their country.
My 2c anyhow...

Disagree with this one. If you let anyone on the team it loses it's meaning. When I was a junior the qualifying score for the state team wa 1250. Our team was small, but we were all capable shots. The following year they dropped it to 1100. Our team was three times the size, but full of people who had no chance of winning, or getting in the medals. Really insulted those who had put the time and effort into shooting 1200+ scores. The old team members were pissed off, and the new ones felt uncomfortable as they were on the team with us getting beaten by 200 points.
Keep the qualifyer high and the teams small I say.

Aarleks
14-05-2003, 05:47 PM
Teams are three per division. I'm not saying bring it down low, I'm saying lower it a bit. If the top three Uni Men's recurve (for example) archers are shooting 1240+ then there is your team. But if there are no such archers, or at least none who want to go to an event (pay your own way remember), then we have no team. Isn't it better that we have a team than not? Sure we may not want people like me going  , but I see nothing counter productive in lowering the eligibility score to 1200 (MR) at least, if not something like 1175. At least that way we might have a team, and that might inspire more people to go for the next team, and more to take up archery at Uni.
Archery at University is just about non-existent. There are only a few Universities that have any sort of structured archery programme. This year there are no official competitions. We (those of us at Uni who are archers) ought to be doing what we can to change that. That is why I think it is important that we have a National Champs, and that we select a National team. Those sorts of things inspire others to contest the title, to strive for the team, and to form clubs.

We do this sport for fun, but in the context of a National team we do it for the honour of wearing the Green & Gold. I just think it is better for the sport to have someone represent us internationally than not.

howdy all!! great to see all your posts!! good to see uni archery getting better! there will most likely be three people in the recurve devision going to the world uni games.
greg mcguire, mellissa jennison and myself in the recurve department, does anyone know if any compounders have made the scores and applied?
to answer the original question my pb for a mens fita in competition is 1264 and in practise it is 1297, hope you are all training and studying hard!!

I have't recorded a full Fita round still just learning the art of hitting the target
close up is good at 30 metres 36 arrows 6 ends I scored 343/360
hoping to convert these scores to 90 metres ends in the next decade
maybe then i will be happy.

Just thought I would update my pbs: :D :D :D 8)

Today at the Rankings shoot at Homebush I shot above 1000 for the first time shooting 1139. This included a spectacular (for me :D ) 278 at 90m, and a spectacularly crap 245 at 70m... Doh!! Totally my fault too...(not setting bow hand correctly and thereby introducing torque). Still, I set a competition pb at every distance (278, 245, 284, 332). Still haven't shot a FITA in practice so cant give a practice pb, but my 50m pb is 302, 70m 278. 30m and 90m from today are also all-time pbs for me!! Yay!!!! :D :D 8) :bday:

Thanks everyone.

Didn't find out what Andrew got. Probably mid to high 1200s by the looks. Bob got 1200, Peter Heyman 1206? Rest of the boys in the 1100s apart from Cain Beckett 9something?. Only one compounder ( :o ). Don't know what he (Doug Courall??) got. Don't know about the girls, too far away. Dan Bray (USyd Men's Barebow) 907? and very disappointed. Next time.

Wasn't a Star shoot Pete, have to wait for the State Championships for that. :D Still I claimed my 1050 Waratah (ArcheryNSW thing).

Mike, when I can shoot your score then Dave can start worrying! :D

FITA Stars cost $50 to register, so unless someone registered them with FITA last year at $50 per shoot they unlikely will be star events.

Clare Barnes
01-09-2003, 09:15 AM
FITA Star events should be registered with FITA and will therefore be found at www.archery.org

Go to the Calendar, then search by Nation for Australia and it will list forthcoming registered events being held here.

The Advanced Search option can be used to get all events already held. :D

Hey Aarleks, our 90 and 70m scores are just about reversed. I *finally* broke 200 for 90m today with a 233 at 90, and I got a 277 at 70 the week before. My 50m and 30m scores need some work now :)

I'm hoping to get my first FITA star at the upcoming ACT targets.

Cheers

Good luck Ralph!! You can do it! 8) Well done on the 90m score. Feels good to break the 200 mark.

Yeah it's weird about my scores. 70m has always been the distance I can most improve on.

I'm hoping to get my 1000 and hopefully my 1100 Star at the ANSW State Champs in October. :D

Pete

Talking of 70m scores: I shot a practice Ladies Fita the other day.

70m - 283
60m - 277
50m - 210
30m - 250

I think my muscles gave up half way through because i wound my bow up to 44lb. Helped in the longer distances especially 70m. But by 50m it was just a matter of pulling it back and hoping it hit the target. More training required.

My groups were better at 70m than 30m :o

recurve boy

My groups were better at 70m than 30m :o

Judging by your scores your groups at 70m were better than your groups at every other distance. :o Tuning problem perhaps?

Pete
11-09-2003, 09:12 PM
My arrows generally fly better when i have my bow wound up as i did the other day. My poor performance at shorter distances was purely a muscle endurance problem. Since then I've been pulling my bow back every day with stretchy bands attached, feels much easier to pull already.

I found that the heavier draw weight gave me a much cleaner release and a crisper sounding shot. But might just check the tuning if i have time.

My first attempt at a full FITA and I do it when I get my new X10 stab.... :-?

30: 312
50: 244 <- What the hell happened here? :-?
70: 230

Total:786

Would have been just under 1000 if I could pick my bow up. But at least it sounds good :) really really good.

Marcus
28-09-2003, 08:33 PM
dude, a full FITA require 4 distances, without 90m you shot a 3/4 FITA

recurve boy
28-09-2003, 09:18 PM
I'm aware of that. Never said I succeeded!

DrRalph
28-09-2003, 10:42 PM
Recurve, did you shoot 30m first? The rules say you can do that, shortest to longest or longest to shortest, but most people start fresh at 90m and work down, to finish at 30m. Some people though shoot a FITA over 4 days, one didtance with warm up per day....

Anyway, nice job with 312 at 30m, but you look like you were getting tired. 50m is usually equal or a bit worse than 70m for most people. My ACT Champs FITA went 223 @90, 278@70, 260@50 and 314@30 for 1075. Get that fitness up and shoot like you did at 30m and you'll romp in a 1000+

recurve boy
29-09-2003, 12:59 AM
DrRalph. Yup. 30m first. I thought I would make it hard for myself at the longer distances.

But I tried a new stab setup, X10 and a 3ounce back weight. The back weight was actually the weights for the X10 but they were definitely too heavy at the tip. Looks like it is still too heavy. I find I can't shoot and think about trying to lift my bow at the same time.

Lots of work ahead if I am going to hit 1300 ;) Mark my words, I'll break 1300 if it kills me!

After a month and half off with flu, I got back and shot a 514 FITA-1
and a 767 Canberra (recurve of course). Both PBs, and the Canberra went like this: 60m 237, 50m 249 and 40m 281
These are all bests, but the 40m was like a dream. All golds, and a 80 MB rating for the 30 arrows. The ratings went 60m 68, 50m 66, 40m 80 (!) for an overall 70 rating for the round. First ever MB level shooting, even if just in parts.

I like shooting with compounders, makes you rise to the occasion. I didn't win, but I didn't mind. I'm probably going to run out of 70m+ club rounds to get my 1st class by the end of this year, but there is always next year.

In the midst of moving house, but I got in a practise end in at 70m and got a 291 (recurve), including a really nice 55 in one end. Prev PB was 278.

I think part of it was having the bow tuned well for the first time in a good while (new string, new sight, new arrow rest, fresh walkback tuning) but part of it was not really adding up the scores until the end and generally being relaxed about the whole end.

Egill

I shoot Barebow Recurve, so the scales are a little different...

My best comp pb is 948 for the Short FITA, but in practice it's 995. For FITA 900, its in comp 656 - which should now be the State Record!

Things are changing though, after the Talent ID Day back in December, and that great talk by Mr. Lee, I've been working on my form (+ exercises + SPT), and it seems to be settling in now. Last week, I shot a new practice pb for 70m - 246! This is 25 points higher than my previous pb, and the first time I've reached MB rating. I'm looking forward to the States and having a serious go at the current National Record (1009), and if everything goes as it seems to be going, maybe even reach MB rating (1031). If I do (and can do it two more times this year...), I believe I'll be the first Barebower in Australia to get a MB classification (at least in Target)! Fingers crossed... (oh, maybe not - that won't help my release any... )

DrRalph

Nice one Egill.

Good luck at the NSW Champs and let us know how you go. You've also got the 'Best' bow!

BTW I think there have been MB Barebow archers in Field, and Mick Turner has shot at that level (508 indoor FITA I, 300+ Field) but I'm not sure if he got the formal quals. The Swedish barebow archers are shooting at GMB levels these days :o

Clare Barnes

According to the AA database, in the last 10 years only the following Barebow Recurve Master Bowmen classifications have been claimed:

Marianne Gale - Field and Target
Edna Gaisford - Field and Indoor
Graham Kuchel - Indoor

There are about the same number of Compound Barebow claims, but none for Longbow. :-?

Joe Vardon holds MB for Target

Guy

It's bloody hard to achieve in longbow! Keith and Joe would the two best Longbow archers Australia has had (FITA). I shot with Keith at the Nationals last year and whilst 1044 was impressive it is still a long way from 1114. So is it "easier" to achieve in other bow types?

Guy

I am talking about getting to GMB not MB.

Marcus
03-02-2004, 02:48 PM
I doubt it's easier, look at the number of GMB recuvers and compounders in relation to the number who use that gear. I think VIC has 1 GMB recurve archer.

Guy

From looking at the tables I think I agree. A GMB Compounder would have to shoot 1298 for a Mens FITA? Not too many have done that!

I hear rumours that you can pick up classifications indoors in Aus.

What's the FITA scores needed for GMB, MB, etc with a recurve?

StevenB

a 561 FITA 18 will give you a rating of 85 which would just give you a GMB.

GMB = 561+

MB = 537+

1st = 506+

After a terrible field shoot two weeks ago, I got to shoot a full FITA today: 221 @90 253 @70 254 @50 319 @30 for 1047 (67 rating), which gives me a nice score towards my 1st class (need two more this year). I was happy with 90 and 30m.

This was a great relief as I only managed about a 40 rating at the field, due I now know to a nasty virus attack on the day. I haven't dropped down too far since my last FITA in November last year after all. I really must shoot them more.

I just managed to keep within 200 of Owen who shot a PB 1246, nice one Owen.

I'm hoping to hold more ACT ranking rounds in the future at club venues for a while while the AIS is busy :) I'm also coming up to Sydney for the April 25 ranking round.

28-03-2004, 05:18 PM
Nice one Ralph! :bday: :bday: Nice score by Owen too!

I also had a good day. Shot a FITA (practice) at Homebush:
267
285
283
308
1143

None of the distance scores were pbs but the total is a new all time pb for me (previously 1139 set in competition last August :o ). 30m could have been better but I was getting tired. 90m included an end of 35 (doh!).

I'm reallt happy with my shooting. A month ago I was in the worst mental slump and form slump so far (which included the infamous tab throwing incident  ). However, persistence and some sound coaching from Michael Larven has helped me out of it and I am now starting to reach new heights. Bring on the Nat's!! :D

DrRalph

1143, I'm going to have to try harder - you've got 100 points on me now. Those 90, 70 and 50m scores are great -- you could be knocking on 1200 soon if you keep that up. 267 at 90 with a 35 is excellent (apart from the 35) :)

Pete
28-03-2004, 06:16 PM
I shot a personal worst for 90m today, 110 points. It was blowing a gale and rained. Meh. Folowed up by a 263 @ 70m. Gave up after 50m cos the conditions were so crap.

If I took the 2x out of my titan, I wouldn't have anything to aim with.... the scope body is too large to be seen through the peep :P
It comes and goes, but today, I had a really good day, and I felt good about it, very relaxed, and even my backtension release form that Jim Larven got me onto is working well.
I'm hoping it'll sort out for the Nats, but my only problem is that I lost another arrow today, and now I have no spares!...... thus my post on selling my triple 600's...... :( :(

Flehrad, I read your classified ad and your post in "University Archery - scores":

...but I'm confused: Do you want to use 600s or 400s in competition?

I ask because I have eight or nine 600s (110gr. points, 28" point to nock groove) that I don't use anymore, in the boot of my car. I can give them to you for $10 each if you want. They are about 6 months old, shot ~1200 times each. Send me a PM if you're interested; I will be at the Metropolitans on the weekend at Homebush.

Sorry: I tried to send this as a PM but it hiccoughed.

Finally got that FITA Star. :D :D
Had some wonderful ends. Best of 'em was a 53 at 70m with 5 nines tight at 3 o'clock and an 8 next to them. 58 at 30m was nice (all gold too 8) )

Probably lost 100 points due to brain farts and dumb shots. Started 70m with a 4 and a 5. All my sight settings from practice were low. Also, had a miss each at 90m and 50m (brain fart).

Really looking forward to the Nat's. Bring 'em on I say!!! :D

Fantastic. I know just how you feel. Well done.

Damn you beat my 1075 too. Right that's it! You've uped the ante now.

Now we need to hold together an 1100 at a star event -- race you! Not far to go on paper... Hope you get there at the Nationals (but don't hold back if you are breaking 1200, you can go back later and get 1100), otherwise we'll come up for the ANZAC day shoot and go for it then too.

Cheers

There is a long pathway..... scorecards from Tournament Director to RGB Recorder to make claims, then to AA Recorder for processing, back to RGB Recorder, to Club Recorder, then finally to the archer....... :o

I process all claims I get within 4 weeks at the very most of receiving them. I have no control over the length of time it takes me to get the claims, or for awards to be distributed once they reach the RGBs.

I am also RGB Recorder for SA and, even following the same rules as I use for all states, SA clubs receive medals for their archers within 6 weeks of an event. Okay, I am not relying on postage except to some clubs, but that should only add on a week or so at the most.

Damn this has been a good month!!

My Nat's scores.
Day 1:
251 (11th highest on the day)
281
300 (yeah baby!!)
333 (with a 51 last end  )
1165 14th for the day

So got my 1100 Star the shoot after getting my 1000. Very very happy with that. Was on fire all day. Felt great, gee'd (?) up. Only the third time ever that I have broken 300 at 50m.

Day 2:
246
273
272
321
1112

Didn't feel well at 50m and 30m. Still pumped to break 1100 two days in a row (only ever done it twice before).

Flehrad
18-04-2004, 08:55 PM

Know exactly the same feeling Alex.

My scores were

Day 1
250
280
292
328
1150

Day 2
265
309
300
312
1186

With 265 @ 90m, 309 @ 70m, 300 @ 50m and 328 @ 30m all being PB's and an overall double PB, one each day.

Yay, I can feel my target panic shrinking away.

MB and GMB - you only get them outdoors. Indoors is a mess that no-one understands so you just think about the actual scores.

MB Gents recurve = 1190
GMB Gents recurve = 1259

MB Gents compound = 1280ish
GMB Gents compound = 1350ish? (Don't know, I'm not really looking to get either of them any time soon)

Not a big deal, but I've been gettig low scores recently and I am trying to rebuild. Today we started a FITA 70m round, but stopped due to wind and rain. However, along the way amoung my usual 45 ends (recurve) I suddenly sent down a 55 : 10 10 9 9 9 8, easily my best 70m end yet, and only 1cm outside a 70m all gold. The rest of the round was not memorable, and I fell 3 pts short of my PB, but the 55 end really left me feeling encouraged.

DrRalph
21-09-2004, 08:55 PM
295 :o nice one.

My pb is still 271 for 70m, but 283 for 50m. My 'Imaginary' FITA of pbs at each distance has now just ticked over to 1105 or so, but I would be really happy to break 1100 in one go for real.

See you there!

The One
21-09-2004, 09:07 PM
The trick is to keep shooting FITA distances in practice, and try and break, or get near to your PB each time. This is always challenging, because it's always achievable. And the great thing is that because you shoot a 'distance' or 'short FITA' in practice, you'll most likely shoot right through to the end of the shoot, rather than just deciding that that's enough for the day. And of course the more practice you do, the better your scores will be! Hmmm... I really need to start doing more full shoots - haven't completed a full club shoot or tournament for about 2 or 3 months. I've been too weak to shoot, but my strength's starting to come back :D And just in time for the summer season, too!

DrRalph
21-09-2004, 09:18 PM
Yes. If I just shoot a 30m end after warming up I can get 320-330. But at the end of a FITA my fitness is letting me down and I am lucky to break 300. My last three ~1050 scores have had terrible 30m finishes.

The One
22-09-2004, 10:51 AM
Yeah, endurance can have a lot to do with it. Personally, I find some of my best 30m scores to come in competiton - I think it's because I'm a lot more focussed, and having shot all day, used to the feel of the bow

grantwomack
22-09-2004, 06:29 PM
I'd agree with that. My PB for 30m has always been set in competition simply because I know exactly how the bow has been handling that day and know what to do to get them to go in the middle. I've never set a 70, 50 or 30m distance PB cold-turkey - only ever after at least a couple dozen arrows.

Rob's FITA total today is only two points from my all-time pb (set at the Nat's) of 1165. He is within 2 points at 50m and 1 point at 30m. 90m he has a way to go though (mine's 278 8) ). I think all his scores today were pbs.

However, I believe Grant is the reigning Uni master with 1262?

I did shoot a 1262, that's correct. But I wasn't a student when I did it. I shoot at York University since I work here now and my wife is studying here but I'm not longer a student. Best I managed in practice while a student was 1202.

An article on Erika's archery appeared in the LaTrobe Uni newsletter this week. It was done quite some time ago (for example talks about her compound shooting but she is 50% recurve now)
Good publicity for Uni archery, but without a Uni competition and clubs down here will not lead to alot directly.

Upgrade her recurve PB's also

I only managed a 821 when Rob shot his monster score...
Dunno the exacts, but I'm having major problems at 90m where I'm only getting around 20 points/end.
I think it may be a combination of bad bow tuning and my form, but my do steadily increase across the distances as the distances close up.
Once I get Rob's spare ACE's I'll see if they bump my scores he  he.

Antoine
29-09-2004, 04:46 PM
same for me, 90meters is a killer.. 167 last time i tried...

I think my -modest- form falls apart when I need to lift my bow arm too much.
and i was using a *very* old string (about 15 years old! fast flight, only used for a couple of years in 1988 :o )
Just changed it this weekend, had to raise my sight by 1.5 cms at 70meters, arrows went zoom instead of woblywoblyzoom.

Grant, the picture on your website shows a sight completely on the right. Is it the way you usually shoot it?
Mine happens to be completely on the left and I always wondered why (can't go any further left :-( )
Provided you are talking about when looking forward through the sight and not backward - like what is shown in the picture - then I think it has to do with my head placement on the shot. I sight right off the edge of my nose and just beside the string to try to get the straightest line possible. I have had the problem when my arrows aren't tuned right that I can't actually see the target since it is behind my clicker at 70m and further. Once I get everything tuned, there is enough room to see but it can be frustrating in a heavy wind, where I can't move my windage in any further.

Flehrad
29-09-2004, 07:27 PM
Yes, but like the noted comment, I can't shoot every day (yet) and nor do I have beautifully tuned gear like you do..... :D
I'm a bad workman, blaming my tools of course.
And I accept that fact.
Heck, even you can't tune my gear....

got it grant. thanks for the explanation.

you shoot York, Bristol I,Bristol II, St. George 752, Albion, Windsor etc in the uk, are they the same the as the sydney, canberra etc rounds we have in Oz?
Do you have a chart to match them by any chance (just to understand what scores we're talking about)

otherwise nevermind.. just curious

grantwomack
29-09-2004, 10:01 PM
There are some different rounds in Australia - different distances since most of Australia seems to be based on the metric system and the UK is based largely on imperial.
Australian rounds:
http://archery.alphalink.com.au/frame_Official_rounds.htm
British rounds:
http://www.stalybridge-archery-club.org.uk/tar.html
I must say I like the variation you get by shooting both yards and metres. A York is a very fun round to shoot and definitely separates the boys from the men! :D And it doesn't seem right for men to be shooting 60m in anything other than a FITA 900 round, since there aren't any other regularly shot rounds that use it in the UK.

The One
02-10-2004, 03:43 PM
same for me, 90meters is a killer.. 167 last time i tried...

My first attempt at 90m was a 51 for the distance :( It was at our nationals, and I'd just moved up onto the 90m line. Was aiming at the flag at the top of the target, then it started to rain like nothing I've ever shot in before (apart from once - that was like shooting in a swimming pool). I was aiming at the top of some large trees before the end of the distance!

I think possibly a team Axis should form and compete with team Aerotec to compare scores over 2005. Highest FITA score from each of 4 people per team. Whaddya reckon? Team Axis gets Tim and Dave though! :)

Flehrad
03-10-2004, 09:23 PM
But that isn't very fair...

I mean, at our club, Rob has an axis, and Alex and me have Aerotecs.....

We can't have a 2 and 1 person team....
Unless Rob gives up his Axis, which is unlikey, just as with the two of us getting Axis....
Unless of course we buy the dodge Ebay ones hahahaha
With what money though....

grantwomack
03-10-2004, 09:32 PM
No, I mean they don't need to be from each club. The teams can be from all around the world, just to see which is the superior scoring riser. Settle this debate once and for all (and maybe silence 2Dogs in the meantime!) :D

Team Axis:
Rob
Grant
(two others, names not coming to mind)

Team Aerotec:
Don
Alex
Dr Ralph
(someone else)

Flehrad
03-10-2004, 09:35 PM
Oooh.
But that is so stacked already....
Since those who shoot with the Axis are currently better than some of those who shoot the Aerotec.....

grantwomack
03-10-2004, 09:39 PM
Hmmmmmmm... Perhaps we could pursuade Tim to shoot an Aerotec to log a score on that! :)
The real answer is just to have the Aerotec shooters practice more! :D :o

Flehrad
03-10-2004, 09:42 PM
Yeah yeah yeah... I'm working on it.

Sorry, my Axis from limbwalker should arrive this week ... hopefully. Fingers crossed. And you wouldn't want me at the moment anyway. I'm trying to fix a few things with my form and I've lost a fair few points. Its really quite pathetic now.

Doubt it, that would take away their appeal. Like the X10 stabilizers, if they were re-released, their price would drop and they wouldn't be such hot property 'cause anyone could get them.

When I'm told that there is nothing more I need to change? Trying to remember things I need to do and shoot 90m is a recipe for crap. And besides, haven't scored 360 at 30m yet. I don't think I have any real business shooting 90m when my 30m scores haven't even broken 330.

Oh yeah, got my Axis today. Sweet.

Well, its not like I never shoot 90m. I occasionally do it for a lark. Though I seldom venture out past 70m. But I'm mostly interested in shooting correctly rather than just flinging arrows competently. My mother can fling arrows. :P

So what are you doing with your Aerotec then?

Paper weight for the time being. Maybe get some cheapo limbs for those days when I'm feeling fatigued and can't draw my regular poundage? That sounds like a good idea...

Keep going Antoine! Once I finally broke that 200 at 90m it became a lot easier for me, and you are really close.

Now I seem stuck on 1050! Still, I finally got my 1st class AA target badge recently, which is nice.

I shot 225 at 70m on an 80cm face today. (equiv to about 275 on a 122 face) Rating around 72, not bad considering I hadn't touched a bow in 3 weeks after a conference trip in Germany. Good enough to start breaking 1100 on paper, but my endurance really has to improve if I am to maintain a 72+ rating over 144 arrows.

Good enough to start breaking 1100 on paper, but my endurance really has to improve if I am to maintain a 72+ rating over 144 arrows.
That's the most frustrating part of it too. Actually getting it off the paper and into the target!
Apparently I should have been shooting 1250's from the start of the season if my indoor rating was anything to go by. But the tables that converted them were designed using X7's in the late 70's and so are not transferrable. My 1262 I finally shot will probably be equal to a higher score than I was capable of at the end of the last outdoor season. I hope anyway.....

Ranking round today....

No wind for 90m and 70m practically, then some horrible swirling wind conditions (typical Homebushy style), and had some very strong wind conditions to finish off the 30m...

I broke my PB 821 today with a 904 (164, 201, 244, 297) so I'm kind of happy, but I had several misses at 70m that shouldn't have happened...

So, onwards and upwards for the November ranking! :P

Cheers to all the Northern guys, Aarleks and I totally gatecrashed there
club champs today and they were great!!!! (everyone, yes we are

example of how archery should be !!! Was only $5 too BARGAN

An awesome day was had by all :D

DrRalph

Sounds like you guys have been getting on with just doing some archery - nice.

I've had a flu for what seems like weeks now, and my draw-anchor form is shot to pieces as my basic strength has faded a lot. Still, if this windy rain will ease off a bit daylight savings after work on Wednesdays may help get me back on track for the Nats. next year.

Nice field scores, anything around 300 recurve is very respectable. I did a 263 way back last year, and haven't been able to try again since except once which was a disaster.

Indoor season has started and I've already broken my personal best scores three times. Twice I've broken my Portsmouth PB of 577. The first was 578, the next was a 587. And this is two weeks after I started shooting my new limbs. Can't complain! :) Also shot a new PB for a FITA 18m of 556. Started with a 286 and it went downhill after that. But again, I can't complain. Hoping to get a 590 Portsmouth and a 575 FITA 18m by the end of this indoor season.

I keep breaking PBs too. 589 for a launceston (short distances of a fita: 268+321)
and an 'outdoors' indoor of 514 (25+18m : 259+255)

Now I have to go for that 1100 fita.. (and re-shoot a couple of 1000 first :D )

Nope, shooting my 2213's. Will move onto 2312's if I can get some for a reasonable price in the US when I am there. I would destroy too many X10's shooting them indoors. As it is, I only shoot tri-spots. But you can't guarantee every tournament will be like that. :-?

Well, unless the AIS opens up Compound, he might want to consider coming to NSW since there aren't many university archery clubs out there while here there is at least UNSW and USYD where he can get some good shooting in, along with potential sports scholarships etc...... :D

Naturally, being someone that shoots 70m, shooting at UNSW wouldn't be that great, where as of course USYD has 90m capacity.... :D
