Tori Watson asked me if I knew anything about a 1434 Men's FITA Indoor shot in the US. I have been able to confirm that this is true. All the points were dropped at 90m with the round being shot by Dave Cousins. I believe it was shot at Easton.
Am trying to get more info on this. However I believe it was shot with an UltraTec XT3000 Command Cams. Not sure if it was in a real comp yet.
(why is info like this so hard to find in archery?????)
Yes I belive it was shot at Easton's factory, dam impressive inside or out !

I got this email today
Cousins did shoot a 1435 in Eastons indoor test facility. As a matter of
fact, he outshot a shooting machine on that round - info from George
Teckmitchov.

Agree, perfect from 70m down is not easy no matter who you are.

1434....I heard it was 1435...but hell I also heard that Dejan Setar shot a 1432 indoors last month.
I'm a sceptic, and don't believe this stuff. The info about Dave Cousins went around the US boards a while ago. George Tech. is a bit of a smart arse and i wouldn't be surprised if he was having a lend of someone :D .
1400's 1414, 1420 I could believe, but to drop 5 points over a fita round indoors........bahhh!
I just don't think humans can shoot that accurately.......and if they can..I QUIT :o
Cheers

Well I would like to see the score card or something from Easton on it. IF it did happen it shocks me that Easton and Hoyt are so quiet about it.
As for humans shooting that well I don't see why not. It's not hard to shoot a 10 at 90m, it's harder to shoot 36 in a row. With the world records for 70, 50 and 30 being 355, 356, 360 outdoors I can believe that someone could shoot perfect for all three indoors without the pressure of competition. Also Clint's World record for 90m is 347 outdoors so 355 indoors doesn't shock me either.
On one hand I agree though, if these guys are shooting that well it put me off shooting, but on the other hand I want a 1400 myself no matter how many hundreds shoot it before me. :)
Gee I want to shoot some indoor FITA's though!!!

Your right Easton have been very quiet for quite an astonishing achievement....(In George Tecmikov's imagination) :D
1430....I still don't think that will be achieved for a long time...if at all.
The world records add up to 1418...to find an extra 12 points at that level is extrmely hard. Even in practise :-? and if any one does it it won't be called Archery any more, it will Big Bore Rifle shooting.
90 is the bitch distance....that makes or breaks a good score. It's such a long distance, and to drop 5 poitns out of 36 arrows.......I dunno about that. Maybe I can call Jacko and he can recommend a DRUG! bhahaa
Don't you hate it when you smoke a huge score at 90m then can't beat it at 70m.....DOH  terribly embarrasing.
Anyway these days the FITA's count for stuff all. Nothing like shooting double 1415's and getting blown out the door in the first MAtchplay.
I understand that AA is making a decision soon that the 2002 National Target Champion will be the winner of the Matchplay, not the winner of the double FITA. That's not a rumor, that's on AA's adgenda.

Go take a look at this link, and have a read. Make your own mind up if you think it's for real.
Me, no thanks don't believe it. GT (aka George TEcmikov) seems pretty convincing.

I recently attended the Arizona Cup as a spectator and got to watch many top archers shoot in the 2 days. Day one was the first 100 F day of the year for arizona. I do not have the qualifying scores however, the second day started out with very light winds, competition began with a 36 arrow 70 meter round. The winds were building slowly but Dave Cousins only shot 359. Impressive! Later he reached the Gold Medal Match against Mark Penaz. Winds were strong and very variable. Mark was to start the match but due to the winds was unable to get his first shot off in time. Dave removed the arrow from his bow and tossed it over the three meter line. He later won the match.
I am not even what I would call a "good" shooter a total unknown simply a spectator yet was able to talk with Dave, Becky Pearson, and a couple other top name archers between rounds etc.. It was great that none I approached had the "holyier than thou" attitude many other hi level pro's develop. Thats part of what will make the sport grow.
Jeff,
You will find that most pros are easy to talk to and are accessible. In fact many of the top US Pros are available online at www.archerytalk.com. The veteran pros like Dave Cousins, Jimmy Butts, Dee Wilde, and Terry Ragsdale are friends of mine and are very approachable and eager to help or just to chat about archery. I have found that it is usually the "wannabe" pros that are aloof and cold.
oh and on the 1435... I was not there, but I tend to believe it. Dave is a great shoter and the sun is bound to shine on a dogs a** every now and then. :D

Hi Happy and George, welcome to our forum.
I havn't had the chance to meet one of the top shooters in person yet but the handful I've talked to on email (before forums came about) were very helpful and responsive. I agree it's great for the sport that the top shooters are approachable.
BTW George the Archery History site is fantastic. Are you involved with it's development? I've got some images I need to email in, so much great history in this sport that is unknown about.
Hi Marcus,
I am only one of the contributors of the site. If you would like to submit pictures and stories about them, Email them to archeryhistory@aol.com. They have a huge amount of stuff that has not made it on the site yet, so it may take a while for them to get you pics up. Please send them in; they would love to have them.

I like being in denial :D
If I believe a human can't shoot that good, no matter the conditions, then I still feel there's hope for me yet.
Oh and for you who don't know............the world really is flat
